Rick Hanson talks about taking in the good. He is easy to understand. What he suggests does not seem that difficult. I am going to give it a try.

Thanks for this!

There is a negativity bias. It makes sense to me knowing how long it takes for things to change once taken in and knowing from previous studies that other neurologists have done, as he has suggested, for neurons that fire together wire together. It is definitely worth trying. I'm curious now too about his works regarding stress and meditation, and will be looking into that as well. Thanks for sharing this.

I see the speakers beliefs as being grounded in scientific facts and, it is useful for me to remember pleasant memories and images during my day to day life struggles. The speakers conclusions fit with methods of coping I use currently. The tendencey, according to the speaker, for the human brain to obsess on negative truths; like avoiding attacks from predators, not eating poisenous plants, protecting our; children, mates and ourselves from many dangers, I believe would be necessary for survival in a pre-civilized life on earth. The speaker appears to be positing that the current age is different than the pre-civilized age, and we need to adopt new ways to survive.

I'm on the fence on this belief. If I was financially secure, and wished to stay financially secure, this is a true statement; if financial security is equated to survival.

If I was, for whatever reason, without financial resources, and wished to eat, drink and be safe from predators and have health; I would need to obsess on negatives to survive. I would need to worry about how to eat, drink, avoid attacks from predators and stay healthy; until I learned how to fill these needs. After I learned, or adapted myself, to filling these needs, successfully, and I had confidence I would be able to fill these needs in the future, my mind could relax a bit. I could remember pleasant memeories and fantasize about good times in the future. I could, "stop and smell the roses." I don't believe my survival would be aided, if I "stopped to smell the roses", prior to knowledge of how to survive my enviroment successfully. I think stress is necessary in adapting to hostile enviroments.

I believe the world is still a hostile enviroment.

I believe the speaker was very effective. His conclusions will, most likely, help many people live longer and more productive lives.

It was helpful to watch the video. Thank you for sharing it
