To come once a week. I feel like a failure on some level but I do work 50ish hours a week, drive 45 mins each way so I think this is my only solution.

Send them here when you're finished! I was just thinking about that in the middle of the night last night while I was contemplating all the dust around here (and cobwebs in the corners, etc.).

If you can, it buys back some very precious time to devote elsewhere. Sounds like you are doing what need to to take care of you and the household, so not failure.

Penny if you feel that way then how bed am I? I live across the road from work and employ my workmate who is nearly 20 years older than me to come and clean a two bedroom unit that I live alone in? I just cant function except when at work. The rest of the time life is dead.

Failure?
Hell, I'd feel like a winner. I'd hire a cleaning crew the first chance I got... And I live in a tiny apartment... I can't stand cleaning and I don't even really have an excuse.

Why feel guilty, I did the same thing when I was working long hours, you have to make time for you or your mental health suffers. Look at it this way, you're helping someone who obviously has limited skills and that's a good thing. I found out my housekeeper was working towards her degree and housekeeping fit her schedule. I say give yourself a break.

Thanks all.

I always get the same feedback. Don't beat yourself up. . . Give yourself a break. Sad but true, if I'm not resulting in perfection then I'm a loser.

I need to stop but how?

think of it as a luxury? you could spend time cleaning or not.

think of it as time you would rather spend doing something else..or realizing this is a weakness of yours & accepting that you realized that & addressed the issue rather than letting it build up into a huge mess

think of it as a way to make all of us oh so jealous & then invite us all over for dinner?

I have a cleaning lady too, I just dont want to do it! I'd rather spend my Saturday's playing. I felt bad for a few weeks and then I got over it because I love the free time and I am giving her a job. Win Win!
