Does Australia normally get hurricanes? I've never heard of that before!
Thanks for this!

Thanks for that fishing fool. I had not been near a tv to see any footage yet. I feel for those who were in that area.

Hurricanes no. Cyclones yes. This one was cyclone called cyclone Debbie.
Thanks for this!

I believe a hurricane and a cyclone are the same thing, just different
terms in different parts of the world. At least I think so.
Glad you are safe.

I may be wrong and I am sure someone from there can let us know
but I think it is just in one part of the country where they get them.

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you fishing. The weather is an amazing thing. Thanks for helping me to learn more.

Tropical cyclone or cyclone. What's the difference?
Confused about the difference between a "tropical cyclone" and a "cyclone?" A tropical cyclone is a generic term used by meteorologists to describe a rotating, organized system of clouds and thunderstorms that originates over tropical or subtropical waters and has closed, low-level circulation. Once a tropical cyclone reaches maximum sustained winds of 74 miles per hour or higher, it is then classified as a hurricane, typhoon, or cyclone depending upon where the storm originates in the world. These weather events happen in the areas in the tropical areas of our country.
