My adventures in knitting continue. Last night I finally had my learn to knit lace classs, and it was awesome. There were only 2 of us in the class so we both got lots of individual attention, and were able to cover a lot of ground.
We knit a few lace samplers, to learn the basic principles, and learned a good cast off for lace, that's really stretchy. My next project is to knit as a sample a book mark, using the lace pattern, that, I'll ultimately use to make a shawl. Once I've got the lace pattern down, I'll knit the shawl. I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with lace. splitimage |

That sounds like fun. I was just thinking that I want to learn how to crochet. I have a friend that makes some beautiful afghans and doilies. I knitted a vest one time but can't for the life of me remember how to do it now.

You will soon be a suitable wife for a nice Italian man! Then you can start on a tablecloth and bedspread (this was my past predicted future, pardon the fractured tense!)

I love hearing about your knitting
![]() I'm glad you're having fun and learning new things! Years ago an aunt made lace colors that had a small button in the front, to add to a top, even a sweatshirt, to dress it up. I really loved it and received many compliments! |

That does sound like fun. I'm glad you have a new hobby. My BFF is big on knitting and tried to show me how. I just don't think it's my thing. But she thoroughly enjoys it and makes some really nice stuff.
Keep us informed as you accomplish more items! ![]() |

I'm doing a sweater in a white sort of lacey pattern. I'll post pics as I progress with it.
Tat, that's what I want to learn to do. |

Making lace. It can be done two ways, by shuttle or by a tatting needle. Here is a picture of tatting.

Thank you for sharing your knitting experiences. I crochet but I've always wanted to learn how to knit, especially lace.

Knitting is sure a good past time SpliteImage! I'm happy you are still making headway with your interests in lace.
I see all kinds of knit/lace/crochet tops in the stores and wish I could locate a pattern to make a 'shrug' like short sleeved lacy, short T-Shirt sort of top to wear over a tank top with a skirt or dress pants. You know, sometimes I get an idea in my head and know what I want, but can't fine one like it ![]() Think I'll do a search on the web later on today to see what I can find. Haven't done any knitting for a few years. But I think I want to crochet something with 'shell' pattern and open work. Can you post a picture after you make your lace bookmark? ![]()

It's so cool to see that people are still intersted in learning these kinds of hand crafts!
![]() I collect lace. It would be a blast to know how to make it myself. |
