Hi everybody,

I am seriously bummed out. My new job, that I was supposed to start in a couple of weeks has fallen through. My friend who is president of the company emailed me to say that the company is having a really bad year, and they had an exceptionally soft April, so they're trying to cut costs as much as possible, so they can't hire me. WAH!

They only good thing is I did get into the subsidizaed living residence, so at least my monthly expenses are low.

So it looks like I'm going to have to tap into my locked in retirement savings account after all.

For now though I'm just going to focus on finishing rehab and completing the move. Then I'll think about looking for another part time job.

I honestly feel like I can't catch a break.

At least accepttance for the position in the first place, shows you have skills people want. I know it doesn't pay the bills, but hopefully, it at least proves you are valuable.
Thanks for this!

i am so sorry to hear the news. being unemployed myself, i know the feel of disappointment when a potential job does not come through. here's wishing you the best and many more job opportunities and, of course, eventually a very happy full-time job (with benefits!).

Oh, splitimage, I am so sorry the job fell through. Nicks_Nose made a good point, though: They clearly wanted you enough to hire you, it's just that finances messed it up.

I =am= sorry.

I had similar feelings when I worked a temp job, got my first paycheck in a number of years, was feeling so proud of myself--and then the paycheck bounced! Wow, I thought, what kind of loser do I have to be to have that happen? Yes, I know rationally that it was their fault not mine, and it can happen to anybody, but when we are disappointed like that, we usually don't think rationally.

I'm sorry for your experience. Here's hoping you find a job you love. Soon.

I'm sorry for the bad news. It sounds like you have your head on straight for future plans, though--and you got the good news about housing.
