We are engaged after 6 years and getting married all the way in 2015 for our 10 yr anniv. My family is in Florida, where I always thought I would get married since that's where I am from. His family is in Vermont, where we reside.

What are your thoughts on....
1. Where would you get married if this was your situation?

2. How far in advanced does one start planning a wedding?

Thanks for any input ^_^

First of all congratulations on your engagement!

While not married I have helped close friends with their weddings. Honestly, the sooner you start the better. Weddings can be stressful and take a lot more work than you think. All the little things add up - flowers, food, location, band/music, make-up, hair. And places do book out. Even if you don't book anything straight away (or can't as some places do not book too far in advance) it can't hurt to start having a look at bridal magazines and expos just to get an idea of what you need to get done.

As for location, that is something that you probably need to decide between you and your fiance. You would also need to consider where most of your guests reside, and if you are travelling whether it will be possible for them to do so as well, or if you don't mind if they don't attend.

Thank you!
I would mind if family didn't attend, so I suppose my biggest concern is making it as convenient for everyone while still making it enjoyable for ourselves as well. Which will be very difficult. You don't think 3 years is too early to at least think about the location and venue? I didn't think it was too big of a deal to worry so soon about this when he proposed to me in December, but for some reason when I woke up the other day I decided I just HAVE to figure this out now. I don't know why, must be some sort of intuition. Or maybe I secretly want to get married sooner ;-) shh.. no telling anyone.

All of the TV shows and movies of women planning weddings are made out to be a very stressful process but I don't see why it is so stressful if one gives themselves a wealthy amount of time to plan prior to the Wedding. ..right? Or should I be terrified?

There is nothing to be terrified about You do have plenty of time!

And starting to think about things now isn't bad. As I said, you may not be able to book now but getting a few ideas about it can't hurt. It is just less you have to think about later
Thanks for this!
