and the ad in the newspapers will run for three days starting tomorrow. I took today off from work to tidy things up, and here I sit lollygagging on the computer. I'd like to move back to the town in which I work as a teacher, and have found a lovely house there, but just getting this house ready...well, I doubt I can sell it. I think of the "laziness" thread someone posted in another forum topic, and I'm feeling the same! Plus!!!, moving is such a hassle! Not sure I have another move left in me. Have done so much work on this house $$$, which I probably will not be able to recover. Oh, well, I'll get it tidied anyway!

You seem resigned to selling to selling though. I wish you luck. It's a big step.
Thanks for this!

I understand your desire to sell......I am struggling with the same feelings. This house is way too big for just me (2500 sq ft plus 1000 sq ft basement). I really want a nice little cabin, or just an apartment on the front of a barn for my horse. I can't keep up with a house this size.

I hope you are able to sell your house since you already found something you like where you really want to live.

Moving is such a stressful thing.....I wouldn't have problems this time because I have no furniture....didn't bring much of anything when I moved from Calif & haven't had money to buy anything either & no desire to furnish because I really want SMALLER......Love the 10 acres & the woods, but it's not as practical as I thought it would be for horses.

Hoping for your success....just takes the right buyer being interested.....but know not wanting to take that much less for the house....prices went so low here, can't get anywhere close to what I paid for this place...not willing to loose that much either....understand your situation on that also

Eskie, today, I really thought I'd be "swamped" with calls for my house. NOT! I've had no calls. I too am faced with the problem of having invested so many improvements $$$, while other houses in the neighborhood are listed for $1,000's less. Oh, well, where I am is fine, and manageable, while moving to the house I found near my school would mean a higher mortgage payment. Maybe "the Man upstairs" is looking out for me. Having tidied everything up, I look around and think "this is nice!"

I guess, if I want to get serious, I should contact a realtor, but my experiences with realtors (buying and selling 4 houses in the past), has left a rather bad taste in my mouth!

But, hey, what would be great, would be for me to find a teaching job in your locale, and we two find something we could both afford together! I'll look on the KY teaching jobs, just for curiosity!

They are desperate for teachers here in Mercer County.....they moved most of their substitute teachers into permanent positions. They were desperate for subs....but I think they are still needing the full time teachers.......I'll PM you the information on contacts for our county so you can talk with the interim superintendent.

I was really worried when Ralph Anderson who owned 8000 acres of farm land died a few years ago & his daughter wanted to dump the farm.....all kinds of developers were checking it out for the auction. Turned out this coal mine owner had just sold off a mine & bought up the whole farm.....so it's still cows, corn, & his wife is into TB horses......what a relief that was for our whole community.

That would be awesome if you could get a position here & move here. I know you you are familiar with how beautiful it is going through the cascades. I know I'm partial, but think this is one of the most beautiful area's in KY (that's reasonably priced compared to around the Horse Park & the huge horse farms...lol)

Hey, Eskie, I did look at the job openings in Mercer County...It IS, Mercer County, correct? No ART opening, which doesn't surprise me, and that is the only area in which I'm certified, K-12. Art really is the last priority in school systems these days. But I'll go ahead and post my application thru the Bd. of Educ. website. Also, will keep my house advertised. My house really is lovely, with pool and new decks, and new everything else, including much I have done to make it energy efficent (which one can't see). Also totally privacy fenced and pet-safe.

Yes, you really are in the most beautiful, most historical area of KY!
