We will only see a partial eclipse here on the eastern coast. It should be spectacular to see the full eclipse. A friend is going to record it. I will watch the images but will definitely be on the lookout meanwhile to see how it comes out here.

Thanks for letting us know Tim - I love seeing things like this. I know with a total eclipse we're not supposed to look at it - if we wear sunglasses will that be enough I wonder?

For a previous eclipse I set up a 20-power birding telescope on a tripod, aimed it toward the sun (without, of course, looking through it), held a piece of white cardboard behind it, and adjusted the scope till I got a good image of the sun on the paper. Don't let anyone look through the scope or they'll be sorry. |

Thanks for the article. If sunglasses aren't nearly strong enough, what is? Tanning goggles? lol. Maybe taking pictures would be best.
