This seems to be National Doughnut Day, and in my area Krispy Kreme stores are giving away doughnuts for free, according to a Washington Post story!

OOOOOOOOOOOO, I love the raspberry jelly filled Krispy Cream's. I splurge once a month & buy a box of them to enjoy for breakfast for several days. Trying to keep the ants away from them is the trick.....gotta fight off those nasty buggers as they carry away my donuts.

Wish I was somewhere close to where they were giving out free donuts...nothing like a free breakfast/ lunch, or dinner.

I bought my four favorites: a bavarian cream filled long john, a jelly filled bismark, a glazed raised donut and a chocolate frosted raised donut. I've been binging so much lately that I'm avoiding weighing in for my weightloss support group. I had lost 97 lbs but last I checked was back up 30. I only brought 4 donuts into the house so I can't do too much damage with that.

When I was a kid in California, we had Helm's bakery that baked bread & donuts every day & had their trucks that they went out into the neighborhoods with....nothing better than fresh baked bread & their yummy glazed donuts.....that was when I actually fell in love with that glazed flavor.....but it has to have just a certain flavor.....think krispy kream is one of the few that has the same texture & flavor in their glazed dounts also.

Ah, the memories donuts bring back........

Helm's bakery had field trips for the schools to come & see how a huge bakery works & they always gave these cute little loaves of bread to all the kids.........what fun those days were

mom worked in a bakery in the local grocery market for over 20 yrs.
she got up at an ungodly hour to make the doughnuts. The job payed only minimum wage with incremental wage increases. she met so many people from the community each day and loved each one of them unconditionally. always had a smile on her face. she is retired now. i too liked the bavarian creme long johns. a favourite. May the gods bless the doughnut lady. --- my mom. Happy National Doughnut Day.. everyone.

I had a gluten free doughnut today from kinnikinnick, granted I had to defrost it from the freezer, but it was yummy.

Dang, missed it. We went to Denny's but would have done Dunkin if we'd known that!
