Facebook, I can sprout random crap, or insightful anecdotes, keep intouch with friends old and new and play games... Twitter, I don't see the point in 'following' anybody... Even celebs, how would I know Johnny Deppe is ACTUALLY speaking to me?...

Because you get 'mentioned'. Your name would be in the tweet.
One of the reasons I like twitter is much the same as why I like forums like this. I can talk freely and openly without anybody really knowing me. Friends and family are on Facebook which makes face to face encounters awkward sometimes so find I have to censor myself.

Yes I agree Rob. I spew the most crazy stuff on Twitter. Just throw my inhibitions out there. Whether its useless nonsense or insightful crap there is somebody that favorites it and makes my day. Sometimes I prefer twitter sometimes facebook. These days mostly twitter because I get to unleash my rage out on it. LOL

I d0n't censor myself maybe my question was unclear: how do I know Johnny Deppe is behind the screen at all? Could be anyone, staff member, close friend or sad wannabe...

...I joined Facebook a few years ago at the urging of some old friends. Lasted maybe 3 brief sign-ins. Too bad but my life was going down the tubes a bit and I didn't feel like connecting with anyone, let alone my ol' buddies etc. I regret it a little but unsure if I'd a facebook person anyway.

Not sure what Twitter is but it sounds a little different. The computer social thing is pretty foreign to me. All comps usually are for me is a convenient library. Unfortunately. Maybe I'll Google Twitter and see wot the fuss is about. Heh, I feel left out sometimes not being abreast of the social media scene. The big ol' world is so small now...good and bad aspects to it all I suppose.

You can usually tell by the relative amount of followers if they're a wannabe. Like if 'johnny depp' only has a few hundred followers, when you'd expect hundreds of thousands, its probably fake. And by reading their tweets you can work out if its them or staff.

I guess your reasoning works for you I on the other hand don't know Johnny Deppe personally, so I wouldn't know if I was talking to him, or just a staff member who knew him very well. People I do know, I know their nuances, writing styles, sense of humour, I could SMELL if it wasn't them behind the screen twitter? Nah, too many possible false positives. I stand by my choice. FB
