Since I don't have a TV, haven't caught much of the Olympics; however. I did catch one of the most amazing things I've ever seen while I was over at my girlfriends's last weekend. The run of Oscar Pistorius...

For the few of you who haven't really followed The Games (like me), Pistorius is a South African runner in the 400 meters. Nothing exceptional thus far, but I hasten to add the fact that both his legs were amputated below the knee when he was a baby. My God, man! I was just blown out of the water when I saw him in the starting blocks...Plus, he placed second in qualifying run he was in. Watching him run with prostheses really put my own problems in perspective.

Yep. Bipolar really really sucks. Hypomania can be pretty great in a lot of ways, but depression sucks the life out of you...not a news flash for any of you, I know. I hope I remember Oscar Pistorius the next time I'm depressed & tempted to crawl too far into a hole & bury myself. There are folks in this world who have things as bad or worse than I do.

OK. Enough heavy stuff...The night Pistorius ran was also the night they showed qualifying runs of the 100 meters -- 10 seconds of raw speed. The best American runner in the 100 meters is Tyson Gay. Is it any wonder he started running at such a young age? Fight, or flight & all that jazz...

I favour only particular Olympic sports, mainly ones I'm involved in or similar ones, such as judo, boxing, TKD, weight-lifting and wrestling. Despite this, I still watched some of the other sports. Unfortunately, I wasn't pleased at all with how some of the sports were regulated in this Olympics, especially the wide disparity amongst the boxing referees.
