We've just had two days of workshops and meeting in which we teachers have been informed of so many new and oppressive restrictions and requirements. Forms, surveys, and evaluations...I'm feeling under surveillance! I love my job, my students, and I like teaching Art! Me...I'll just continue doing my job. If they don't like it, well...maybe I'll retire next year. Sadly, the emphasis in education has pulled away from The Arts, to the basics (which, I agree is important), but the atmosphere is ominous and not conducive ot creativity.

I'm so sorry to hear that. You are a teacher that really cares. It would be a shame to lose you.
I looked into teaching at one point, crossing over from adult education into earlier educ., and was astonished at two things: 1. how much time was spent on discipline and order in the classroom, but more importantly, 2. the redundancy of the administrative checks and evaluations. I can see why it would be so difficult to teach, besides being very frustrating and stressful. I hope this year will go better than it appears from the get go. Teachers will always be my heroes. Wishing you the very best for the upcoming school year! Hang in there ((((((seeker1950))))))
