hi, everyone - i have survived the hurricane unscathed but my apartment building did not. currently, i only have cold water! heat and hot water will be restored on monday. electricity will not be restored for another week. more soo.
|

I hope things are restored soon! I remember seeing your posts the night of the storm, I was on PC as it was happening, was really a scary thing. Hope things get back to normal soon for you!

((unhappyguy)) - thanks for letting us know since I was concerned your area was affected by the hurricane. I was beginning to worry. Are you still staying in your apartment? This must be so inconvenient with food etc. Hope your electricity will be restored soon.

hi, everyone. thanks for your good wishes. electricity at home has been restored but not heat, hot water, gas for the stove or internet service. i miss you all and will continue to check in sporatically. i am okay and hope things are back to normal soon.

Internet service has been restored! Though I still have no heat, hot water or gas for the stove. My apt is freezing!

Heat and hot water have been restored. The only thing that I am missing is a working stove as the gas has been turned off. It will not be back for another 2-3 weeks. In the meantime, another storm is due to hit NYC tomorrow! It will be less than half the size of hurricane Sandy.
I toured some of the local devastation today. The salt water mark on the walls of the east side of my apartment complex was between 4 and 5 feet deep. The salt was embedded into the brick by waves. There were many damaged cars that are still scattered on the street. Three of the four local supermarkets were closed due to flooding. The remaining open supermarket was charging full price for everything - nothing was on sale. |
