True! If you wanna smell cheap, wear axe! And be laughed at and mocked by girls the globe over! We're tired of those sexy ladies telling us we love axe! Lies I tell you!
Thanks for this!

LOL! On most guys, rich smelling cologne is false advertising!

I really dislike it when people wear too much cologne! I only use one spray so that only people up close can smell it. I won't wear more because I don't want to be a walking room deodorizer!

Sometimes wearing cologne is overkill. My shampoo and soap are scented. My deodorant is scented. (I do buy unscented most of the time now.) Toothpaste and mouthwash are scented. We all have the natural smells of our own essential oils from our body chemistry enhanced by the foods we eat. Smoking and drinking add scents. Laundry detergent and dryer sheets make our clothes smell. Then, we put on cologne to cover up all those other smells!

My suggestion is wear as little cologne as possible - it should always be understated - and buy good quality cologne that lasts and impresses others. A lot of people are allergic to colognes on them and on others. So, don't overdo it especially at the office or other places of business.

The Armani colognes are for the most part very good though Aqua di Gio is not for me. Can't say I like Cool Water, Brut, Drakkar Noir, Farenheit or Old Spice at all - though they are considered classics - as they have scents that are too strong for my taste. Curve (the original in the green bottle) is reasonably priced and nice smelling. And, I still like Gray Flannel. The Cool Water brand extensions are better than the original (the new scents are lighter). Some of the Ed Hardy scents are very good. I also like many of the Burburry, John Varvatos and Diesel scents. A classy choice is Dolce & Gabbana pour homme.

I'll throw in the obligatory caution note: Don't overuse the cologne! Instant turnoff, and it makes me (don't know about other women) think you think you're a great catch. Maybe you are, but something about excess cologne makes me feel like you're too arrogant about your own self.

Tsar Cologne by Van Cleef & Arpels. I literally hunted a guy down at the mall because he was wearing it. He walked past me I smelled it then took off after him to find out what it was so I could buy some for my hubby. YOWZA!!! I swear it must have pheromones in it!!

I enjoy smearing myself in cow manure. It really attracts the flies.

Studies show that the smell of cologne actually reduces the flow of blood to women's genitalia, yet you're adamant that it is an attractive scent?

...learned to turn off the faucet loong time ago. Subtle is the direction. I do enjoy scents Unhappyguy but I've learned something. When I smell someone I'm attracted to it's the mix of natural AND a nice perfume that tickles the senses. I would hope it's the same for someone scentsing me. Yow...a new word! Get on it Websters. Anyway smell is a primal thing...raw and unadorned or dressed up a little. It's all good really. A simple faint soap smell...you're right...just that can be overwhelmingly pleasant and beyond. And yes like anything, what works for one may not work for another. Glad for the stupendous near ridiculous number of choices. I'm not a fancy lad by any stretch but I enjoy my cologne...skin spice!

Anyway I think of any added smell as yeah, a spice...added to a fine recipe base to begin with. If people smelled like the opened bottle under a nose then I'd save money. No matter how good something smells it's nothing without a body. Room freshener at sillymoola per oz. It's the lingering natural scent that turns these oils and alcohols into potential wow. Knowing how to gauge overkill is a simple task. I think women are more aware of that rule...and then men are men...by and large I figure, it takes us a bit to nail down subtlety...in many areas.

One note, not all inexpensives are to be snubbed. I've had a couple than apparently worked very well. Body chemistry...I've had a nice$$ cologne smell great from the bottle...impulse buy and found it reminded me of eau de bug spray after a few hrs. Bitter chemical...wow...nasty stuff. But t'were just me I expect...molecules just weren't making friends at that party.

I was told once that woody and spicy worked for me. Any opinions out there on these types of fragrances?

My boss from my old job wears Fierce by Abercrombie and Fitch. And I tell you, smelling that cologne on him, it smelled so good that I had to stop myself from jumping him in the aisles and doing bad things to him. My mom smelled it on him, and even though she's not attracted to him, she said it smelled so good that it made him sexy. I know it fuzzed my brain up when he'd walk by and had it on. Not to mention that the man is so hot that I'm surprised he doesn't melt the ground where he walks.

See the power of smell! It is often the most overlooked sense, and yet it does so much to a scenario, it was the difference between tokiwartooth jumping that guy and just walking past him like nothing....surprising but true!

I like Old Spice. I've heard that Burberry Summer for Men is a woody/citrus light fragrance.

I do have a Burberry...Weekend. Not sure if it's woody as they say. It's one I like though [repeat purchase] and favorable comments have been pretty regular. Bluntly put it got a lot of notice in the middle of a sweltery summer. Jived with my perspiration well I guess. I had Burberry orig. a few summers ago but didn't like it...most of it saw oscillating fan blades. LR smelled great.

Interesting! I'd like to smell that! Usually when they dual up fragrances aren't they somewhat designed with some similarities? Weekend for men is not 'robusto da macho' so ta speak but that's ok...I have a few diff scents. Makes me think what the diff. is though seeing as how I like mine. Sort of a light clean thing it is. Hell I'd like mine on women I think! *grin*
