I have been watching Animal Planet, they have found that mermaids are actually real, they have found a REAL BODY and the Navy knows this as well, but they are hiding this knowledge because their underwater sonar testing causes not only whales to beach themselves but also mermaids.

It is very interesting to watch, I am watching it right now on Animal Planet. And the navy has kept this a secret because they don't want to stop their radar testing.

I think this is horrible that we would destroy such a wonder as this, it is very human like, but developed ways to communicate like dolphins and whales. They have hands like us and make tools. They are REAL.

I hope they get this known and there is an eventual court order to stop this testing which could cause this wonderful human mermaid to become extinct before we even get to see and enjoy what was thought as a mythical creature is actually REAL after all.

Don't belive me? I am watching it right now on Animal Planet. I am very amazed and upset that this was kept a secret by the Navy.

What is wrong with people that they would keep something so amazing hidden and risk it's extinction?

They hunt and swim and communicate alongside dolphins and whales they have larger eyes than us but their DNA is very much like human DNA. I hope there is a court order to stop the sonar that hurt the whales, dolphins and these amazing mermaids to beach themselves in pain. It is so hard to see that this is hidden just so we can utilize this sonar. Makes me very upset.

I forgot that was on, so I only saw the second half of it. It was certainly one of the stranger things I've seen. There is a fair number of things like this that are kept fairly quiet... and I'll never understand why.

Geez I'm so sorry, I always feel like I'm raining on someone's parade

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1544087.html

Quote:
Foley isn't saying that mermaids exist, but finds it fascinating that the comely sea creatures have been talked about for thousands of years and show up in the writings of numerous cultures -- even among cultures that had no contact with each other.
There has never been a confirmed mermaid sighting, and some researchers speculate that people who've claimed to have seen one outside of a movie theatre actually saw creatures like manatees or dugongs.

You are not raining on anyones parade George so don't feel bad. I expected someone to post something saying this isn't true.

And I do remind myself about the many programs on Ancient Aliens that are aired on The History Channel. I find it funny how in one program the technology is discussed about how some of the amazing architecture was actually built and then on Ancient Aliens they "theororize" how the Aliens did it.

If what they are saying is true and the government IS hiding the discovery of these mermaids because they don't want to stop using sonar? I would think they would have all kinds of ways to continue to hide the truth.

After all the chemicals used in FRACKING to get natural gas could not possibly be
poluting the water supply in different areas right?

I choose to keep an open mind myself.

Open Eyes, if you read that link you will understand. That article includes quotes from the filmmaker stating that there is no evidence, that the program was made for entertainment purposes, and that he doesn't necessarily believe in the existence of mermaids.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mermaids:_The_Body_Found
The program was fictional. Sorry I didn't watch it myself but after reading your post I was hoping it was true. Maybe it was presented as a "true dramatization" or contained some other misleading come on. Are you familiar with the radio dramatization of War of the Worlds in the 1930's or 1940's that was presented to sound as if it were real?

Quote:
Foley is quick to point out that he doesn't necessarily believe that mermaids existed, but, as he did with a previous special, "Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real," wanted to "plausibly imagine them."
To do that, he had to think about how a real mermaid would actually look -- and it's wouldn't be a red head like Ariel the Little Mermaid at all.
"Evolutionarily speaking, hair would be the first to go because it's a drag underwater," he said. "Also, we thought about the coloring. Sea mammals tend to have countershading. They are lighter on what, in layman's terms, would be the belly and darker on the back. This is so they would blend in with the water if you're looking at them from above and would blend in with the sun shining through the water if you're looking at them from below."
Foley hopes the special gets people interested in the Aquatic Ape Theory, but also admits that his goal isn't to win converts to the idea.
"This is meant for entertainment," he laughed. "We didn't submit this for peer review."
I do believe in pollution and chemical contamination caused by fracking. There is no doubt about that.

Well, George, I do see what you are saying but there ARE many times where people with say exactly what Foley has stated here simply to avoid being held responsible for any backlash. So it can be hard to determine what is the truth from what is fiction.
I would have to watch that special again and pay close attention to the wordage being used. In the series that I have seen on the History Channel about Ancient Aliens, it is clear if you pay attention to the wordage they constantly say that, "it is believe" as where is Ancient Alien "therorists" so while there are things to contemplate there is an over all message that it is all based on "WHAT IF". And quite frankly I am amazed at how broad they brought that "theory" to even say that the BIG FOOT are also created by "ALIENS". Ugh, really?

The way they depicted this special on the mermaids, the constant message was that there HAS BEEN PROOF, EVEN FOOTAGE and that actual acredited scientists were in volved directly with the actual evidence. It is expressed that this evidence was confiscated from these scientists leaving them without the proof they need to show that this is real. And I know that THE REAL DANGERS IN FRACKING ALSO IS HIDDEN AND DENIED AS WELL.

And we have found some amazing things that were thought extinct so, I keep an open mind. This doesn't mean I am gullible.

Okay I am not saying you are gullible. I'm open minded too but that show was fiction and the film makers have stated that it is fiction. That's all I'm saying.
The people who are fighting to prevent fracking are not using any disclaimers and are not covering themselves to avoid backlash. They have science and research to back their claims. Endangering our water and putting people's health at risk is a very serious matter.
I saw an article on a form of fracking the other day that was new to me. It uses sand.
You may be interested in this because it presents a whole new set of dangers.

That is ok George, I appreciate your imput. I don't mean to come across angry with you. I just reread my last post and I can see by my writing that I am upset, but it is not with you, it has to do with something that is going on outside PC that is challenging me more than I realized. It is interesting having this site and working on my PTSD and having something upsetting happen, it throws so much off in me. I begin to leave out words, something troubling from my past that led to that, it is obvious to see in my post above.

Thanks for your input.

don't mean to butt in, but remember a few years ago, there was a little girl on Oprah who had mermaid syndrome ie she was born with her legs fused together. it's a rare deformity but they thought that might be where the myths got started in the past.

The thing with the girl on Oprah with mermaid syndrome is she lived the longest of anyone known with mermaid syndrome. It causes a fluid build up in the chest/lungs.

I like to think there's a bit of truth in a whole lot of things. Surely between fish/reptiles learning to walk and live on land and human creation there were creatures resembling mermaids and the like. Look at the Duckbill Platypus for ****'s sake.

And i don't care what anybody says--I've watched a lot totally denying this--I still think faeries are real. Ghosts/spirits are, why not them?

I believe that mermaids do indeed exist. I also believe that many mythological figures such as Hercules, Zeus, and Aphrodite were also indeed on earth at one time, perhaps not how we modern day folk would imagine however. There are too many eye witness accounts to be ignored or swept under the rug. Thanks for this Open Eyes! From one believer to another <3<3<3 Yours truly, Lightbulb7

I wonder if mermaids get those plastic, six-pack holders caught around their mouth and nose as do other marine mammals?

That's reason enough to have the Coast Guards patrol the beaches.

I didn't read the other replies, sorry, but yeah, it's not real. I watched it too, and it was really fascinating to watch, but it said clear in the beginning that it is NOT real. Plus I read an interview with the creator, and he too said it's not real, it's all a big "what if".

But it was definitely fun to watch.

Sounds a lot like the Dragon special they aired several years ago, that was a fictitious story played out like a factual discovery. It was a neat little show aimed towards a "what if.... then this is how" type of theme.

IF there are really mermaids, they would need a male version to mate with in order to prevent the species from going extinct. Since mermaids are always female, how would they reproduce? Would they mate with Sashquatch?

One can only dream.... Who wouldn't want a live mermaid for their birthday one year?! It would be pretty nice I think. She would be sweet, kind, beautiful and funny. The best mermaid friend I ever had. Call me silly.

The universe is full of mysteries. Whose to say mermaids don't exist? Whats also to say they are not in the form that we would usually associate with them? We don't know everything - we're not even close so im not going to close my mind to be being pleasantly suprised. Just my humble opinion.
