December 21 of 2012- Happy Winter Solstice

The shortest day of the year as it is called
Quote:
The winter solstice is the solstice that occurs in winter. It is the time at which the Sun is appearing at noon at its lowest altitude above the horizon. [2] In the Northern Hemisphere this is the Southern solstice, the time at which the Sun is at its southernmost point in the sky, which usually occurs on December 21 to 22 each year.

Happy Winter Solstice all

I remember when I was a teenager, I got a little "grill pit" and some wood, and burned a fire to the wee night hours...... it was fun for me and symbolic- i had read that there were some people burned a fire all night long, so that would help to keep negative energy away from the dark and to keep light of the area around them during this time... the light was to symbolize positive energy.
It was in hopes for positive energy for the remainder of the winter as well.

I always liked that idea--- After all I do believe in energy and attractions with energy-- Positive attracts positive; and negative attracts negative-- not to say that some times **** does happen, and even if you are as positive as a chipmunk can be, does not mean that some negative things will never come--- gotta have some rain to enjoy the sunshine, right?

I hope we all stay warm and stay as positive as we can in these winter months to come

May you all be well, and Happy Holidays no matter what you celebrate, and if you don't celebrate- happy days as always to everyone

I love that tradition of the fires as well and especially to fend off the darkness; with being dark here by 4:00, I completely understand this.
Wishing all a lovely Winter Solstice. Bring on the longer days of light ahead!!
