If someone was to donate a private island/retreat to all the PC members .... would you go and meet PC friends personally ? Or would you still prefer the safety & distance of the net ? Just curious... I think we would all drive eachother crazy . Your thoughts

... Well.
I'm very new to the place, so I have no friends.
But I wouldn't mind meeting people in real life. For a night or couple of days.
PC's population seems rather nice, so why not?

As for living on the island - no. I enjoy solitude way too much.
In order to keep up my quite a loner lifestyle and taking into account the fact that there are many people here, it either has to be a real big island or I shouldn't really be on it for a long time.

I so enjoy watching people's mannerisms, facial/body language, timbre of voice, laughter...

No, I'm an onliner, karoliinareddish--as you of all people know, my friend! But it's a good, thoughtful question. I thought about it a lot in the first six or eight months i was here. I wanted to meet so many people in person.

I did recently meet a PCer IRL, but she was the first and I gave it a lot of thought. I suspect she did too. It turned out to be a wonderful few hours, and I hope we get to do it again. But it's not something likely to happen with others--or at least rarely.

The anonymity permits so much freedom, don't you think? That's important. This meeting we had won't change that in this one case, but I think in the vast majority of instances it would. PC and the relationships I've established here means too much to me to risk them. For the most part they are what they are--and that's great! But I tell you folks things I don't tell people IRL ... it's a fine line.

It would likely be preferable for many, over an island teaparty with plain ol' strangers, who have no such thread connecting them.

I would love to meet as many PC'ers as possible.. I am a visual person, so I would like to put faces with posters names, so I could "see" you when I read your posts. I like that and at least for me, even though the anonymity would be gone, I would still respect your privacy.
We all will still have our issues wether we meet in person or not.
But we would have to meet down at the beach...I am a beach freek and ocean luvr!

The people on PC are the only friends I really have and I miss or would really want some real life friends. I'd like to meet select people but one at a time over a period of time. I'm not good with people, particularily talking, and would like to take it really slow and hope I don't screw it up like I have so many other relationships.

You know... the more I kind of reflect on my question There definately are PC members I would like to meet and thank them for always being there! But then again, I appreciate the honesty & privacy of the site You can come here and pour your soul out, and once you learn the system... it is a great support network!!!!
