Hi Chris

I like to buy craft supplies and kitchen gadgets ~ that often cheers me up a bit.

When I'm feeling really stressed, I tend to overspend to cheer myself up & buy clothes that I don't really need. (Like lingerie, to make me feel pretty.)

Books. I bought myself two new books by an author I hadn't read yet and totally enjoyed the books. Now I'll be buying more.

I bought myself some M & S potatoes... twice the price but a million times better to eat. Day-to-day budgeting makes things a little bland, so I thought I'd splash out and give myself a treat

I got myself a keyboard to go with my Samsung Galaxy Tablet.
Getting ready to furnish my apartment that I have been living in since the separation back in September of '12. All I have is a Queen air mattress, a chair, and kitchen stuff. Sad, huh?

A rainbow moonstone pendant set in silver, and a great, perfect-sized little stainless steel stockpot.

And a pretty weaving for my bedroom, very exotic, probably Middle-Eastern in origin.

Hi, Chris. I buy myself books, music, arts & crafts supplies, and electronic gadgets. The most recent gift I bought myself is a new smart phone.

I bought myself a new phone. I like it a lot. I play Star Wars Angry Birds on it and I am happy about that. I know its silly but I like silly stuff. I also cut my nails very short to use the new phone and I am feeling pretty good about it. They were too long and bothersome and required too much maintenance.

Chris.
I think this is a wonderful thing to do for one's self.

I can tend to forget or feel bad for getting "me" something (like do I deserve anything?). My S/O has been a great person to remind me to "not forget about you Beauflow".... and that it is ok.

buying jeans can make me happy (no really, some times clothes if I have not bought any new clothes in a while can really lift my spirits).
Always Arts and Craft supplies, yarn, and then doing the projects can make so happy... some times electronics but I am hard on myself with electronics due to price.
I remember one time, I was at the forbidden Walmart, but they had $5 movies, and I got Horton hears a Who.... that really lifted my spirits for like a week

the only times this has not made me feel great, is if i have bought something when miss configuration what I can spend- which is rare but the effects of beating myself up about it can last for a while.

Some times just going to the dollar store can lift my spirits- I think that is mainly due to I get a lot of things for the home but the bill is cheap.....but I am odd too

I love the Dollar Store, too, beauflow! I've found some awesome craft supplies there, for much much less than even at a discount hobby place. I always get inspired when I'm there. I know, the creative mind, huh?

I love just floating around a kitchen gadget store, too. Just to dream. Sometimes I find a neat little gizmo that I don't already have. Makes me happy.

I know I am happy with little. I count myself lucky that way. Although, I could EASILY become an electronic gadget collector. I just love the potential in all the new smart phones---so exciting.

Hey there Chris!

I am currently unemployed so with very little to spend and no promise of extra cashflow, I have lately been trying my very best to see the benefits and ignore the detriments out of any little thing.

For example, I workout hard and maintain my healthy lifestyle and achieve my goals everyday, I will reward myself with a $2.00 coffee. Simple as that, and I have been doing fairly well so far.

Been there a coupla times, JA. It's often the leanest times that really show our character for what it is, and so many people go back to them when things are "better", and say it wasn't so bad; and that it taught them a lot about themselves.

We have been forced into a financial crisis ourselves, recently---and yet, it really hasn't been as hard as I thought it might be. It was the unfairness of it all that's been the hardest thing to deal with. And relearning the joys of simple things---hot coffee, fresh air, clean clothes---that's been a good reminder for me.

My own copy of Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Talking.
It's written by Susan Cain, and it came out in paperback only a few weeks ago after selling well in hardcover. I'd like to know how many of you in Psych Central Land know about it.

I have only been able to get things I need lately and scrubs was a priority, so found a set with the top in a fun print. When I wore them, I got lots of terrific comments from patients and parents, especially the children; it distracted them from their treatment picking things out in the pattern. I was so relieved and I never would have thought that scrubs of all things would make me smile, go figure.

I just built myself a new gaming PC, and I couldn't be more elated! I've been without a computer of my own for about 9 months now, so I feel it was well deserved.
