I just don't like forced celebration something. I can have fun and party outside of New Year's Eve. I can love and eat chocolate other days than Feb 14. The chocolate is gonna be 50% off tomorrow. And I do love the Chocolate on Sale Holiday.

I'm shocked I haven't seen a Grumpy Cat image yet.

As a matter of fact...

Ah, I didn't realize that you posted two images because the first one won't load for some reason. I can only assume it's GC and that it might be the same as the one I posted?

This thread is for the cynics to have fun....

And if you really want to go that way about it - isn't the mass marketing of Valentine's (and other major holidays) being crammed down our throats, with every other store on the streets being decorated for it forcing use to endure it in some fashion?

I am a bit surprised to be able to tell you that I find, however much people try to "cram" something like that down my throat, it is ineffective. One can even find their desperate efforts amusing. They work so hard at it -- and why? Is it something to do with me, or with them?

Thank you.

Usually I avoid the anti-holiday threads, but I've always particularly loathed Valentine's Day.

I find it to be a reminder of what you don't have when you're single, and an obligation when you're in a relationship. (Also a chance to screw up if you're with someone who really cares about these things.) Besides, if I love someone, then it's every day and not just on particular holidays.

Yay capitalism. Diamonds, anyone?

Ah wonderful valentines, another reminder to show how much you care. It doesn't have to be a lover. It can be friends or family or even the smelly homeless guy on your side walk. Its just another day to celebrate umm love..? Ok what ever, I prefer "Dia de los Muertos". Please don't shoot me.

I found this thread humorous. Thanks for making me smile. No, not because I'm anti -v -day . Because I found it humorous that those that claim to have such a problem with the day don't realize the best way not to acknowledge or be bothered by it is to ... NOT acknowledge it. All the talk does is draw more attention to the holiday itself - thus more exposure. O.O Just a thought but just as if you want a child's bad behavior to go away, you dont' give them attention for said bad behavior. Do something else on Vday. Just a thought.
