I was not feeling well all weekend. When I came home from work last Friday, I parked the car in the driveway and didn't move it till Monday morning to return to work. It had approx 1/4 tank of gas in it. When I started the car, the "low fuel" light came on, which it does when it's near "fumes" stage. I went to the nearest station to get gas, and noticed that the gas cap was loose. I always tighten it after filling up! I do live in a "marginal" neighborhood, with a lot income levels, mostly lower level. The only precaution I can take right now is that I set up motion lights around my car. My garage is too full of "stuff" to park it in there, but I may have to do some serious rearranging to park it in there safely. This is a sign of the times, I fear!
![]() ![]() Edit: Oh, also I plan to order a locking gas cap! |

I'm sure no leaks, Tim. My car is newer and just fine, but thanks for the response! ![]() |

I'm surprised they could suck it from just a quarter tank. They didn't get much, I bet they were mad and that's why they took it to the fumes. I remember when locking caps were a big thing, when prices first started going up. I thought they got around that now by making you open the gas flap door from inside the car?

Hank...I have a 2011 Chevy HHR, and there is no locking device. I'll have to buy one. |
