So, today I was on my way to my outpatient program at the hospital when a lady stopped me in the hall and told me "I want those calves!" Which is, hands down, the weirdest compliment I've ever received. So, that got me thinking- what's the best/most interesting compliment you've ever received and why?

I figured another feel-good threat couldn't hurt us, right

I'll go first: my favorite compliment in recent history was someone I just met who said that my personality and sense of humor reminded him of Emma Stone (who, after the movie Easy A, is basically my hero).

Aaaaand: go!

From a guy who was a drummer in my sister's boyfriend's band - "Gawd you're beautiful!" (I was 19 at the time)

From an Aunt a few weeks ago - "You are so smart! It blows me away how much you know about so many different things!" (She also calls me her other daughter and she is my second Mom )

I was told I was trusted to take control of a large building in the event of a crisis. While this was a tremendous compliment, little did the person complimenting me know that I really wasn't up to such a challenge.

Thank God nothing ever happened.

The latest two were "funny" and "so sexy" and I cannot choose which one is the better one. I like both .

I think the most precious compliment I've had is
"If I were dying, you are the nurse I would want caring for me."

I also like, and have been told a few times "I decided that I could do it if you could do it." from people who knew I struggled with things. (this included stopping cigarettes years ago, getting therapy, regular exercise...)
Thanks for this!

Also, a few months ago, at the end of 2012, I contacted a guy whose many marriage proposals I declined in 1996/97. I then disappeared from his life. So from early 1997 through the end of 2012, no contact.

In Dec 2012, he replied back to my LinkedIn request with: "You are, in my mind one of the most intelligent and kind women I have ever met."

I liked that, but I still prefer "you are funny" and "so sexy".

My husband yesterday morning and I quote "I have not been a good husband and I'm sorry. If you will bear with me I will strive to be the man you think I can be and the man you so wholeheartedly deserve. I truly believe with you in my life I can accomplish anything."
Thanks for this!

The best compliment was probably some woman who was hitting on me in a library. I'm a nerd and she was out of my league.

Whenever I'm feeling down about how I look, I try to remember these two compliments I got:

One of them was by a complete stranger who said I looked like a younger version of Angelina Jolie. The other was by a co-worker who said that she's never met a more photogenic person than me. I have to say I take loads of really bad photos but she's only seen the good ones!

Maybe not a traditional compliment like "You make the best spaghetti sauce!" but this is what I like to hear more than anything else: "I love you" from my son.
