Richard Feynman. His IQ only tested at 125. One of the most brilliant minds in history. Applied to Columbia University. And was rejected
Won a Nobel Prize in Physics. Einstein listened to his seminars and lectures given while he was still a student. Worked on the Manahatten Project and helped to develop the atomic bomb. And became severely depressed after it was used. Married his sweetheart despite her tuberculosis and the danger of being infected. Nursed her through her death from the disease. Turned down numerous prestigious job opportunities because he loved teaching. Still found time to work on his research that helped to advance technology and got him that Nobel.
And loved playing the bongos and tribal dancing and... spaghetti
Thanks for this!

He definitely sounds like he was a special guy. Goes to show, too, that standard IQ tests don't show all people think they show. After all, the first one was designed to see if kids were being lazy in school when they weren't doing well!

Ty George...Didn't know where that was going but it was an interesting sum-up of who this guy was. Ultimately and apart from his intelligence he was a decent caring human being...there are people with that integrity from all walks of life.

From paupers to physicists...proletariats to presidents...the engine within us that expresses humanitys best traits isn't just the dominion of those with superior intellect. Richard Feynman...asides from the astounding mentality...had what counts...and what all possess...perhaps our species important inate quality. A potential to develop empathy.
Thanks for this!

The lesson is, believe in yourself (no matter what anyone tells you).

Feynman was an atheist from his teens onward kelly4519. It's been said that Einstein believed but he said that wasn't true. The spaghetti thing was kind of cool... he not only loved it but he liked to cook it for friends
There may be lessons there Maven... I don't know. But Feynman's mind was a force of nature and he did excel in school so I'm not sure he ever doubted himself.
Maybe says something about IQ tests as Payne said. Plenty of people have IQ's in the 120's.
There are several youtube vids of Feynman. He lived into the 1990's. He was funny and charming as well as having a brilliant mind.
As I think quiz said, Feynman's qualities as a human being were as amazing as his mind.
He gave a lot of credit to his father for teaching him how to think.
