I don't think it's ever polite to stare and I don't think I'd do it unless I was very interested in a particular person and trying to connect and/or gauge interest.
Thanks for this!

I don't stare because I don't like people staring at me. Being BPD, I'll take it personally. That doesn't mean, however, that you won't occasionally if you're tired or something or that you won't catch the eyes of someone.
Thanks for this!

I always stare at people when travelling. Though I've done stranger things. I always feel like everybody's staring at me, so I stare back. I don't like people being near me if they don't have to be, so I usually add a little growl in there too, usually works.

Since you say you're only 15, this could lead to real problems with adult males. When I was 15 I would get unwanted attention without even trying, so it very risky to play around like this.

I tend to people-watch. Rather than stare I mix it up. I look away, then wait a bit and look back. I'm self-conscious about getting caught even looking at someone, but I am curious about other people.
Thanks for this!

I did that too, for a while. I didn't start off too well though. I tended to read a book called "Peoplewatching" whilst doing it, so people got suspicious...

I like to observe people but I think my eyes flit around and don't settle any one place and I don't want any one else looking at me either.

Try staring at someone in an elevator, especially if it's only you and them. Stare them down. Don't crack a smirk or even twitch. Just stare. Intently. It is... hilarious...

Sounds like fun, I wish I was brave enough to stare at people. I like to avoid eye contact in a setting like that though.

Staring at people is rude. I often have uncontrolled movements mainly with my neck and head. I can't control it and really don't like people staring at me. I dont care where it is either trains, buses, shops, streets. And yes I probably look retarded, but my brain and feelings are working fine.

Why do you stare anyway? Some games are just mean. Would you do it if you knew you were hurting people?

Try switching places and see how you feel.

Though it can be really interesting to watch people, in some places it can be an invasion of personal space and considered threatening. This can cause some unintended trouble if caught staring at someone and can bring harm to you. Especially when I am in metropolitan cities, most people walk around and sit on trains and subways with their eyes averted for this reason. Be careful to watch casually with glances instead of outright staring as it can be considered rude as mentioned above. I enjoy watching others too and can understand, but your safety comes first and foremost.

wow your nice thank you
in the train i'm in there are no seats left when i go in so lots of people are standing and end up staring at someone anyway cos people are either in front of me or below me unless i face the door
i did get into trouble once cos i looked down and a guy had his phone pointing at my knees but its my fault i wear too short mini drsses in summer.

Of course not. Purposely making someone feel uncomfortable isn't 'ok'.
