If you're not sure what FML stands for, I commend thee! It stands for "F--- My Life", the first word being the F Bomb.
Is anyone else totally sick and tired of the "FML" that some people find impossible not to constantly use every time something minor does or doesn't happen? I'm kind of fed up of it; what about crime, murder, abusive parents, physical and mental illnesses, diseases, starving kids, etc. They have seem to have no perspective and it makes them look incredibly shallow. I really hope I'm not alone with this. I've held my tongue for a few years, but it's driving me crazy! It does my head in to hear someone so selfishly act like the wounded soldier over something so asininely unimportant, when some people out here in the real world are going through some pretty horrible things. Some examples that I'm referring to: "I'm short £1 to buy this game. FML." "I broke a nail. FML." "I lost the level in the game. FML." "I have a spot. FML." "I stood on dog-turd. FML." "I'm not a billionaire. FML." "My name isn't awesome. FML." And so the list continues. xD I realise this is a small thing in itself, but, we all have things that get under our skin, and this is something that burrows under mine. Furthermore, I understand things can be annoying, and this is perfectly normal, but overusing a phrase that's basically a stone's throw away from "Poor me. Feel sorry for me." is sort of pushing it a bit, in my opinion. I think, honestly, if I were a perfectly normal healthy person with a clean history and a happy no-problem family, I'd probably not be bothered as much by it, or maybe not at all; maybe I just find it insulting because, you know what, my life hasn't exactly been a walk in the park, neither has billions of other peoples on the planet - you wouldn't tell a pregnant woman in labour "Ouch, I stubbed my toe and it hurts like you wouldn't believe!" Just as you wouldn't walk up to a person in a wheelchair and say "Woah, look at my awesome legs, so healthy and functional." Why the heck is this bothering me so much. 'o.O

I think most people who say FML are being slightly sarcastic. At least the times I've heard it said anyway.

Cheers for the speedy reply.
Oddly, I've never once thought of it being sarcastic, so that does put it into better perspective, but, for me, it doesn't make it any less skin-burrowing, due to the above reasons.

You should say "I'm sick of people saying FML. FML".

Thanks, my sister in law (22 years old, unmarried, no children, spoiled lol) says FML all the freakin time and I thought it had something to do with football lol. I just recently found out what atm meant and I've been using that but I can think of plenty other things to F rather than my life lol.

I have a friend that uses it all the time. Kinda drives me nuts too. Text speak in general...the only time I use it is if I'm in a mad hurry and I need to convey an idea real quick. Other than that it's proper grammar and punctuation. I suppose I could stand to loosen up a bit.

I've never even heard that term before. I guess that I am out of it & that's one positive aspect.

I totally know what you mean! People use FML when it rains???????????!!!!!!!!!
I'm like really? The rain is beautiful, I love it! But I'm sick of a term like that. It bothers me too, I don't know why.

The abbreviation "FML" should only be used to describe something emotionally painful, and not something that has no meaning to a stressful life such as what you stated above:
"I'm short £1 to buy this game. FML." "I broke a nail. FML." "I lost the level in the game. FML." "I have a spot. FML." and so on... And I remember when the term was correctly used by a friend of mine, and she sure as HELL felt like **** throughout the time she was being affected in her life... |

It's too vulgar, which is why I like to keep it classy and exclaim "woe is me!" Any time something bad happens

I prefer "Frogs Making Love". It never crossed my mind that it could be something ... stronger.
