What are some of the spelling errors that bother you the most? I'll start with a couple of mine I can think of.

* "Loosing" rather than "Losing".
* "Rouge" instead of "Rogue".
Thanks for this!

Definate instead of definite

Not exactly what you're asking for, but someone I follow on Twitter was complaining about people using your when they should use you're.
Like 3 or 4 tweets later they used there when they should have said their. It annoyed me a bit.

This is a very popular topic, I find.

A things that bug me:

Your - you're
Misspelling of "necessary". (tricky word, to be fair; it took me a while before it sunk in, but now it bugs me)
Definite - definate
There - their - they're
Two - too - to
Double negatives do my head in.
People who rudely and probably obnoxiously go around correcting people.

Probably lots more. But hey, when I was younger, I probably did all those mistakes, and I know for sure I made plenty.

They might be annoying, but it's important not to be an arse about it, as we all make mistakes, and some people are dyslexic.

Oh I don't make a point of it to people unless they are criticizing someone themselves, then I unleash the monster. :P

I make plenty of mistakes myself and so I wouldn't want to be correcting someone and draw attention to my own work.

- when advice or advise is used incorrectly
- same thing with except and accept
- then and than used wrong
- affect and effect

there, they're, their for sure.

This is more of a grammar one than a spelling one, but when people use "I" and "me" incorrectly.

separate......it has "a rat" in it!

When people use "tooken"....grrrr
Thanks for this!

i am severely dyslexic so use a speach to text software to both type for me and to read type to me so my messages often have mistakes which i am not even aware of. that said i do get fed up of other peoples mistakes as my reader reads the exact type that is written, so i often get really weird messages read out to me! what is more frustrating is when people type in a strong dialect e.g. gimmee instead of give me or when they type 4 instead of for

Oh yeah, I love tooken!!

I taught a secretary friend of mine that a rat got into separate and separated it - and she was still saying it 20 years later! Also that there are dAys on a calendAr and that you write lEttErs on stationEry, and you stAy stationAry.

I have ran - grrrr.

Text speak.
Spelling errors in general.
Bad grammar.
I know I probably sound *****y. But I'm an avid reader and writer and I pick things up pretty quickly. Not like I go up to somebody and beat them about the face and shoulders with a four hundred pound dictionary. But I notice it. And it bugs me.

You instead of your. "You favorite artist..." Sometimes this is just the error of a missing letter, but it happens so often that I don't think that explains it all.

I absolutely abhor the word "ain't."
I also don't like double negatives, abbreviations and multiple punctuation marks (??!!!)

Using the word "of" instead of the contraction for "have" ('ve), e.g. "I should of studied spelling harder in school."

I knew I couldn't be the only one!

And some more of mine:
Random capitals on proper nouns, e.g. people who talk about being a Mother rather than a mother.
Erroneous commas, in this sentence, for example.
Thanks for this!
