I know a lot of people do not like Unions. I am (on paper anyways) still a member of the UAW. My contract calls for us to be paid both short term and long tern benefits. Believe me, it isn`t much, amounts to far less than minimum wage. Well, my short term is up Jan 2nd. I called the company that does the benefits and they told me I had no long term benefits. Called my employer (I am still employed on paper. The company doctor will not let me return to work.) and they said they will have to get corporate involved because I am entitled to long term. So, I guess I will see how many months this takes and just wait and see how long it will be before we have to file bankruptcy.................. Some days it is not worth waking up!
Sorry to post this but I have to get it out of my system some how and I have no one to talk to but my dogs. My wife just tries to ignore all of the problems and just hope they go away!

I kind of know what you are going through. In 2010, I filed a disability claim with the VA (I was wounded in Iraq in 2002). The VA didn't rule on the claim until 2012. Those two years felt like 200 years. Everything worked out for me, and I hope it works out for you.

Hang in there.

No system is perfect. I deal with the worker compensation system (arrrggghhh!!!!) and my brother and son both deal with the VA... thankfully my son, as a former officer (Chief Warrant Officer) had ins and outs of the ARMY and he was able to finally get the paperwork in for my brother---who was injured in Vietnam and has never received any benefits. I don't know if he has yet (Obama administration changes) but at least he's in for it.
