Actually I'd be screwed as I would run out of contact lenses. Was just saying to someone today that they never show anyone having that problem in zombie movies!!

think i'd do better in a contained, basically untouched tribe.
then again, when everything falls apart there aren't many questions about what needs to be done. tiny rabbit reminds me of the old twilight zone where there is one man left and is a bibliophile and is excited to be able to read without interruption---only to step on his glasses.... |

Not me. Back during the Cold War when we worried about the Russians dropping nukes on us I used to say that if the seirens went off I was going to drive to ground zero.

Yeah, I don't see me lasting long after an apocalypse. Forgetting zombies and radiation, what happens when I run out of meds? Even if I go steal from pharmacies, supplies will still run low (I assume the drug companies won't still be making them), and even if I could store a major supply, meds have expiration dates. You don't have to be on psych meds to face this problem, either.

I don't know if 'better', but am I that type that would do what I needed to survive?! Yeah!

Being 60, I remember duckandcover, and my mother, like many others saying she hoped she would be right under the bomb if dropped. At the time it scared me, I didn't fully comprehend...and then I read Hiroshima and, yeah, let me be right under the thing that brings the end.
I also want to be left in the wood, I know the place, if I become demented. My children still think this terrible but I do not want to live as my mother did (she would not have wanted to had she had time to choose), and, having lots of experience working in LTC, I do NOT want to be cared for they way we care (not) for these people now. Exposure, or starvation are far preferable to me, or a beautiful place with a hefty dose of goodbye meds. |

I hear you winter4me. I have a friend who has a spot picked in the woods when his time comes. I'm with you. I do NOT want to spend my final days warehoused in some care facility.

First off if there's zombies I'll take someones gun and shoot myself, have no intention of living in fear anymore. Same if there's radiation exposure, I don't need it. LL and Winter, I refused to duck & cover in grade school after we saw a Hiroshima film, I said if was stupid to think a desk was going to protect me. Got sent to the office, but the principal laughed and said she understood but to go along with the teachers because it made them feel better.
Hmmm how am I going to get replacement hearing aid batteries, glasses & my thyroid meds? The factories will be shut down so will transportation. On second thought my hearing aids come from the Netherlands, I guess I won't have to worry about batteries! ![]() I'm not sure I would want to survive if it meant living with out working bathrooms. I'm addicted to my lavender baths and if I'm stuck down here in TX I'll need AC or a ton of meds for the pollen.

I dont think many would be better off or survive. We rely too much on the world of `stuff' meds, food factories, electricity 3 of 1000 things. Theres so many of us we would probably subject to constant threat of life. Nice thoughts.....

Yes!!!! I'd never thought of that before...but yes...it would mean is have to concentrate on being one mean zombie killing hippy chick instead of the stupid over thinking of things that don't exist one...

If the end were an asteroid impact, I would appreciate a weeks notice to spend quality time with my pets and listen to my favorite music. The impact coordinates should be my neghborhood . My dalmation buddy Delaware and I will sit on the front porch and watch it come in as great symphonies are being played in my mind. If it is a nuclear blast, then Ill head towards ground zero while others are fleeing. There's less traffic.

Plan on being long gone before any of that happens....I see a different picture of the end times.....& I'm definitely going to be in a different place.

Depends on what type of apocalypse we are talking about. A zombie apocalypse? No thank you. A biblical apocalypse? Nope. That wouldn't be better. A kitten apocalypse? Yes that would totally cure 99% of my problems.

I can't cope in a pre-apocalyptic world so my answer would be a resounding no.

It depends on what kind of apocalypse. But I don't think so for me. Too much devastation. I would have survivor's guilt. And I don't think I'll be able to cope in the long run.
