Predictions are for very stormy weather tonight for us here in the south of England. Lets hear your stories and any advice from those who have had similar. We do tend to dramatize things in the uk so i'm not expecting hurricanes or whirlwinds but you never know.

I'm on the Bristol channel, Very windy already experiencing some heavy rain and a few hail stones.
High tide is around midnight so I think i'll have to take a wander up to the sea front - I love it when the sea gets angry

I have received some advice from a friend

Sat here in cornwall waiting for storm to hit, winds have been blustery on and off all day
Small showers, were we are we are not likely to be flooded the wind wi whistle round our home
But hopefully everything that might be blown around has been put out harms way ,
Anybody else in path of this storm stay safe , remember they have to make sure they cover every eventualltiy as they dont want to make same makes as michael fish did in 1987

5.00pm and it's nearly dark already. Feels like evening and the quiet before the storm. I've got such little faith in the weather forecasters so wouldn't surprise me if they're just covering themselves. Millions of pounds of technology and they still can't get the forecast right a few days in advance. Famous last words, as it will probabaly be like ' wizard of oz' tonight and i'll end up in Kansas. Haha.

1920 and its gone very quiet outside. Calm before the storm methinks.
The dogs have become very agitated though, says to me that something nasty is on its way

Jealous of those of you in the west country. I used to live in Devon (though I eat my cream teas the Cornish way!) and then in Somerset.

These days I'm in the south-east. It was really rainy and windy here earlier - though the BBC weather app claimed it was a "light rain shower" which is absurd! - but seems to have calmed down now.
Thanks for this!

Seems OK on my end. I have probably slept through it all, as it's now around 3:30am, and I've just woken up, but I still hear the wind out there.

Well the wind was really going some last night. It really upset the dogs, which upset me because they woke me up.
Have just had my first peek outside this morning, Oh the horrors, one slightly wonky fence and next doors wheelie bin has fallen over
Thanks for this!

No way! Oh my God! Nightmare! Did you call the police, the fire department, and an ambulance in-case anyone was hurt!?

No excitement here after all the hype. Winds have died down already, woke up this morning thinking I was gonna be blown all the way to work! Slightly disappointing
