I watch my friends move out, get married, get engaged,....etc all major stuff happening and I really want something major to happen in my life. I feel sometimes as if I am stuck in a rut and I never have major news nothing major happens to me...I don't know how to explain it but iam trying the best I can here.....

Be careful what you wish for. The "something major" may be an expensive medical procedure, accident or something bad like that. I know what you mean though. Sometimes life can be dullsville for oneself while seemingly everyone else is going through major events.

No there's nothing wrong with feeling like you're in a rut & wanting something major to happen. But two thoughts: #1, don't be so desperate to get out of your rut that you grab the first bus that comes along and you end up leaping out of the frypan into the fire. Bad choices are easily made when you feel 'desperate'. #2, there may be some 'major' events you don't have much control over, like relationship, getting engaged, etc, but there are many other things in life where you can get out of the rut. The first thing that comes to mind is ... travel. A good long trip - distance, time or both - can sometimes define a new chapter in a life. Or volunteer for something meaningful, and broaden your horizons. Just a few ideas - hope it gives you some food 4 thought !
Thanks for this!

I understand the feeling...I think it's good as long as you don't do something completely trash. Mixing things up is good.

I feel the same sometimes, I just want something major or exciting to happen in my life, just something different. The way I feel about it is even if it is something serious at least it's something. My life is so dull and boring, I'm just waiting for something to change.

It totally makes sense that you want something major in your life. I don't blame you. You see your friends having these huge, happy things happen to them and you envy you. It's completely normal.

But for what it's worth ... after going through one major thing after another for 40 years ... dull, boring and predictable is really nice. I don't want any more excitement.
