Yep, exactly this. I must say I do love my little Smart car, but then it is the only car I've ever owned, so I'll probably love it more than any others i might own

My wife and I love our Jetta TDI. When we bought it we ordered it with ALL the bells and whistles and haven't regretted it one little bit. We've got 140,000 miles on it now. It averages an overall 44 mpg city/highway for those miles. We've purchased lots and lots of new cars over the years and like our Jetta the best. We had a Mercedes for a long time, but the Jetta beats it hands down for comfort, ride. affordability, handling, appointments, power and overall quality. I don't think we EVER took the Benz in for servicing without spending at least $400. "Oh, you want us to change the oil? That'll be $400..." We dumped over $10,000 into maintenance for our Mercedes in a single year!

Bye bye Benz and hello Jetta!

So yeah, we LOVE our TDI ! We've never had a lick of trouble with it.

I'm a retired Construction Project Manager / Construction Superintendent / Carpenter... I retired in 2008 at age 55.

Why do you ask?

Well... I'm almost embarrassed to talk about it... but, I guess we didn't really think too much about it at the time. It was a matter of $800 for this and then $1400 for that and, oh, btw, we need to spend another $1500 for the other thing... and the next thing we realized was that we were starting to spend some serious money on that damned car. It just sort of crept up on us. But when we actually sat down and started adding up all the costs... Holy chit mon!!! It was time to unload that pig and get something else!! I will NEVER buy or own another Mercedes-Benz car for the rest of my life. They just aren't worth it. Of course, to some people, the status is worth it. Not me though. It was never a status thing with me anyway. I honestly used to think they were great cars! And then I bought one. We kept it for a long time so I guess I'm not exactly being very fair about it. We put a quarter of a million miles on it before we finally decided to put a bullet through the block, figuratively speaking. So, it was time to get a new car anyway... But damn! EVERYTHING is ridiculously expensive on that car! Like...an electrical coil that went out on us set us back almost two grand!!! Is that nuts or what???

So yeah... never again. But we do LOVE our Jetta TDI though!

I'm with Lizardlady......my favorite car is me Dodge 1500 HEMI V8 with the crew cab for hauling my dogs along with me & the truck for hauling my horse trailer.

Of the cars I've had, I think the favorite for driving other than my truck was my Toyota Supra......I enjoyed going farther out in the desert & taking it over 100mph......it handled beautifully.

I had a black & gold Conquest turbo......that was awesome blowing past the CHP who had another car stopped......that car handled nicely also.

For fun, I enjoyed the Jeep Cheeroke's we had....always the 4x4 as we spent 2 weeks every winter in Jackson Hole Wyo for our ski vacation....& took a trip to Banif for skiing & drove there as we wanted to be able to also sight see. I was always the one driving in any bad, snowy weather & the Jeep handled very nicely.

But I still LOVE MY TRUCK. Everyone teases me about how big my truck is & how small I am.....they cant see how I can handle it so well. Guess driving since I was 13, truck/cars just feel like a part of me except for the one time I parked my VW bug (after I had returned home from Italy)....parked it in the crazy Italian way next to a electric pole. I came out to my car & told myself....watch for the pole. Got in the car, started it & immediately backed the little rounded bug fender right into the pole....boy did I feel STUPID!!!!!!!

Have to admit, I backed my truck into a little car that had parked behind me & I couldn't see it.....that will teach me NOT to take off my trailer hitch while just doing normal driving.....wouldn't have had any damage if it weren't for the hitch......$600 worth of damage to the dang other car & I wasn't even going 1mph.
