I sorta like the idea of meeting someone here, who just happens to be very local to me (like, ... the same town, even though those odds are astronomically not in my favor) so that perhaps I could make another local friend, someone whom understands my bullcrap! How handy would that be? It's all very well talking online and all that, but sometimes I miss hanging out, having a conversation with a person, not a computer screen, 'n what-not. I know there's a person on the other end of the screen, ... but it just misses something that doesn't exist in person. I would go on webcam more, but I really just don't usually feel comfortable unless it's with my brah or someone else I know very well. My brah is a 50 minute bus-ride away, so I don't get to see him often, due to my anxiety and what-not. >.<

Yes, several wonderful friends...I am so grateful for this.

It is something I have needed for such a long time.

I've the same concern as yours that most of the people are not much interested in maintaining friendships as they are in increasing number of people in their friends list. Kinda feel like a show off to me. Very Superficial & Artificial indeed.

Yes
I've made a few friends here, 3 of which are no longer active members.

Because we live in different hemispheres hanging out isn't an actual option, but we've exchanged all types of contact info, which means we email, facebook and chat nearly daily whether we login here or not.

The fact that I can't spend time with them face to face doesn't diminish the quality of our friendships, I mean, blind people have friends too...
