Okay, the "Season" can begin; I just got back from the drugstore with my bubblegum-flavored candy canes, yum!

Is there one thing you look for when a holiday period starts? Some ritual? I was very surprised by two things driving to/from the store; (1) there are no leaves on the trees anymore -- I hadn't noticed that! (2) everyone has started decorating their homes in our community this weekend.

YUMM! All you have to do is suck or lick! YAY! I don't have enough good teeth in my mouth to chew gum! Bubblegum-flavored candy canes

Yeah... I listen for the first Christmas carol but I discount commercials. Bubblegum-flavored candy canes People are decorating their homes in my MHP and I'm wondering where I could get some able bodied man to put up my Christmas lights. It's gonna be the same struggle this year with Jerry working full time again... Bubblegum-flavored candy canes WHY??? Bubblegum-flavored candy canes

I've got two 13 yr old gransons but that's a no-go. One is in N. CA and the other just isn't wired that way. LOL Besides, I don't think his dad would let him get on the roof of the house. Bubblegum-flavored candy canes I... just... don't... know...

I watched "White Christmas" last night on TCM. I also love to watch "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town". It's my favorite, but it makes me homesick for past, closer times with my family.

My mothers crocheted and starched snowflakes. I have over 100 of them that she made. Each one is different. I do my whole tree with snowflakes, red bows and white lights. Bubblegum-flavored candy canes

White Christmas is one of my favorite movies ever!!

For me it's the gigantonormous barber-pole candy canes you can get at Walgreens, you know, the big ol' stick ones that are like a half-inch around? It isn't Christmas till I've made my way through at least one of those! Bubblegum-flavored candy canes

Twinkling lights....snow covered trees... hats, gloves and scarves...aroma of fireplaces burning and crackling sounds...stocking hanging from fireplace...hot chocolate with marshmallows..... candy canes... just a few of my fav holiday things. There was a couple of years when I crocheted all the snowflakes I could... but I gave them all away. Bubblegum-flavored candy canes Might be a good idea to drag out the pattern book and the white crochete thread again! Bubblegum-flavored candy canes

My friend macramed quite a few of them with crochet thread and gave them to me. I really like those better because they're so "airy." Her tree always looks like it's dripping snow. Beautiful! Okay... so maybe I'll macrame some, too. Bubblegum-flavored candy canes

The picture doesn't do them justice. My mom uses liquid starch or Elmer's glue and water and lays them out with common pins to keep their shape. They are stiff when dry.

I haven't had a candy cane in a few years but that does it I am going to have one of each flavor this year. I love the music and lights. I love Christmas Eve best. The house Peaceful, candles and soft music and the smell of fresh baking. My mom and friend crocheted a few snowflakes and I love the white against the green tree. One is a hat with a little red ribbon around the brim that mom tucked a tiny music box in. Doubly precious now that she is gone.
