From calming aromas to zen music, there's many ways to calm down and relax

What's your favorite way to relax?

Mine is probably candles and zen music

This is a great topic! I need a lot MORE of these! Ideas *extremely* welcome.

The things that work for me in general involve escapism: reading/playing computer games. I have some relaxing therapy mindfulness tracks which help, too. It takes a lot for me to 'trust' music to relax me, but maybe I'm weird (/definitely) lol.

Mine would be to read or sleep. If I can't go to sleep I use a relaxation CD.

I like to defend the realm against the attacking orc and goblin armies.

But that works at a lot more levels than one would think. I'm set up to win, so no matter what I do, I'm going to end up succeeding and that makes me feel better about myself. In addition, the imaginary NPC characters are always pleased with the outcome so I get praise, even if it is imaginary, and that helps too. Throw in a mindfulness trick of assigning certain monsters to my deluded minds and that I'm overcoming them and you've got quite an exercise that I really enjoy.

Read a really great fantasy book to escape reality
a nice hot bath with lavender Epson salt and candles
and if i'm really stressed and angry going to a live rock show and dancing out my frustrations to angry rock music i leave feeling totally relaxed and angry free

Submerging myself in nature, ASMR videos, cooking, writing, reading (especially during those late summer days), playing video games ( my fav. are hidden object games, word games, and Sims!), traveling (not going anywhere I need to be) with the radio playing and the wheels rolling on the open road, and snacking.
