Candy, you have a point about people one already had time with (I was going to add a few friends and relatives I loved too) so I'll make an "unknown by me" list for dinner table "chat."

Elizabeth Goudge
Maria L. Sanford
Peter S. Beagle
Barbara Tuchman
Queen Elizabeth I

If you haven't experienced that love, then you don't know. Also, when you lose someone you love, you think of a million things you wish you had said and didn't take the time or have the chance, or just didn't know then. Just to be in their presence again... to be in the same room would be a gift more precious than all the gold and treasures this world has to offer.

One of the people on my list is someone I hold near and dear and who is still alive, but it would be my wish to be able to speak to his younger self.

In fact, I know I would die a happy person tomorrow if I could just spend one more day with that person when he was younger and I could say the things to a young heart that an older heart will no longer hear.

I haven't completed my list, but these are the ones I have so far:

1. Jesus
2. Ghandi
3. The younger person I mentioned above.

For me, it's the lack of QUALITY time that makes me want to spend even more time with my mom... to resolve unresolved issues.

I'd give anything to spend one more hour with my head on my mom's lap and feel her cool, silken hands on my face... and listen to Christ and some of his greatest followers as they talked... and we "broke bread together." Incredible!!

I took Candy's question as dinner guests for scintillating conversation. Of course I'd give a limb for an extra hour with my mom since she died while I was too young to know what the good questions were.

Jesus
Madalyn Murray O'Hara
Rosie O'Donnell
Rosa Parks
Elvis

I chose my five dinner guests because I think conversation would be interesting..Madalyn, an atheist sitting next to Jesus would be most interesting. With Rosie at the table there would never be any "silent" spots. Rosa fascinates me. And of course Elvis could sing...and I would be sitting in the middle of Jesus and Elvis... 5 people
