The police scanner sits at my desk. Yesterday I heard a call from the guy who owns the local Wendy's. A non-employee has been plugging his car into an outside outlet without permission.

Then this morning on the news, I heard that the local university is going to pull landlines out of dorm rooms. According to their records, 93% of students have a cell phone, and 71% of the phones in the rooms have never been used.

It amazes me how much the world can change in just 20 years or so!
