My nice shiny 9 month old computer decided to keep switching itself off today about five seconds into the boot cycle. HORRORS!!!! Luckily I have an old backup PC, but I was NOT HAPPY.
I decided to not get bothered about it (yay me, I could have had a full blown geek meltdown in years past). Instead I calmly thought about the problem and wondered "What if the computer is working fine but my surge protector has developed a problem?" Sure enough, the plug I always have my computer plugged into had developed a fault. I didn't consider the surge strip at first because my monitor was working fine. My nice shiny PC is working a-ok. Let me tell you though, you have NEVER seen somebody back up files on a flash drive THAT fast afterwards! ![]() |

Glad to hear you were able to stay calm and figure out what the problem was--and get it dealt with!

"Don't panic and carry a towel" words that any geek should live by
Good job on the trouble shooting...
