Today is a big step for me. This weekend I'm spending at fishing camp and it's very stressful being around all this alcohol. But today is 5 Months without a drink. I plan to go a lot further. I'm doing this for myself and my family. Very hard for anyone that is addicted to anything. Harder for a bipolar recovering alcoholic. But every day is a step into the future right?

Absolutely!! I think it's wonderful that you've gone so long without drinking--my Mother was a recovering alcoholic over 20 years down before she passed a couple of years ago. It was difficult for her too, particularly as she had been raised during a time where 3 martini lunches were the norm, so I know she struggled, but in the end, her success made us so very proud of her, as she was of herself.

I'll be thinking encouraging thoughts for you, and hoping you catch lots of fish!

That's really terrific! Inspirational. Take good care of you during this trip and hope you have a good time.

Congratulations! You are doing great. Enjoy your fishing weekend and remember that while others are drinking getting a buzz, you are enjoying a clear mind with all your senses. You can appreciate the fresh clean air and smells of the river. You will be more attuned to the sounds of nature. You will feel the jolt of a fish on your line before it grabs your bait and runs. You will notice the stars in the sky while wrapped up in a sleeping bag. With a clear mind your experience fishing this weekend will be memorable!

Congratulations! You have managed something quite incredible! Recently, I made it to four months without binge drinking (I have bipolar disorder too), but I couldn't give up a little social drinking every now and then. So I know what a big accomplishment you've managed. Good luck with the rest of your journey!
