How much exercise do you get in a day and how do you get it?

Not just the gym, I mean walking the dog or to work or gardening, just add it up it may be more than you think which is good news for all and for me personally makes me feel Im helping myself without the pressure of another `must do'
Thanks for this!

I get bugger all, at the moment, to be honest, which is a bit of a turn-around, given I used to lift weights and do cardio quite obsessively. I managed to get back into it, for a week or so, a couple of months back, but I started getting abdominal problems again, so I had to stop.

I think the only exercise I get, is when I use my 10-40KG hand-squeezy-thing, and when ever I help my dad with any heavy-lifting.

I try to eat fairly healthily, so that's something. Oh, and playing the guitar probably burns a few calories. :P

I walk the dog every day. It's low impact but it gets me out of the house.

I don't need to go to the gym. Pacing and anxiety keeps my heart rate up.

If that were the case, I'd be incredibly skinny! Haha. xD

Since my dog is a smaller breed I just take her out to walk around the property (I've got a few acres). For the vast majority of days that's all I get for exercise.

I've always been really scrawny, never having even broken 125lb/46.7kg, so I would like to bulk up a bit through exercise... unfortunately my energy level always feels like I've gotten zero sleep and just finished a marathon.

I'm currently trying to get an exercise routine going. It's hard because I work full time and I'm a single mother of two teenage children who are very active in sports. I do more running around in my car than I do "running" literally. I was reading about the P90X3 lately, it's a 30 minute workout, but the program, disks are expensive!! Due to my depression, I know that exercise would be very helpful, so I'm trying the find something to help me feel better!

I walk 1/2 hr per day minimum, probably nearer to an hour. On my days off I do my chores like shopping and cleaning. I spent 3 hours the other day spring cleaning, non stop in cupboards, pulling furniture around, standing on chairs, stretching to shelves and curtains. Thats exercise. Hoovering through the house and stairs at anytime is exercise. I do and will cycle more. I dont play tennis as its not the time of year plus Im not up to it. How many times a day do you go up and down the stairs? Throwing the ball for your dog and running about with him, thats great. Its all underestimated isnt it.

I think that everyday exercise like this keeps you ticking over.

For me it goes like this, bad doctor & no hope of a better one --> health problems remain untreated --> ability to exercise minimal --> bad health continues.

A very vicious cycle but i need to try and curb the agoraphobic tendencies, stop using the excuse that i live in a bad area and.go.outside. Even if it just serves to prove what i think i already i know, at least i can say i tried.

If you really want to know how many calories you are burning, buy a Polar or Garmin monitor that works with either one of their watches or a smartphone app. Great way to really know. I did a long bike ride on Saturday and burnt 3400 calories during it.
Thanks for this!

I'm training for a triathlon and I'm signed up for three 100 mile charity bike rides over the summer, so I put in a lot of time doing some pretty intense workouts. Last night was an hour of hill sprints and suicides. That was good for about 1400 calories.

I rarely exercise, I've been trying to tho. At the most I will follow this program called 'Walk away the pounds'. Beyond that I take my dog out for like 5 minutes every morning

The most exercise I get is working my fast food job. My T wants me to walk more just because since I'm medication phobic. My anxiety this year has made me lose around 20 lbs. over the winter, though.

Since my severe breakdown over the winter I have been the least active I've ever been in my life. My exercise comes form my work, approximately 12 hours/week. I work in a cafe so lots of constant movement, walking, bending, lifting, etc. My goal for this spring is to at least get back to doing some yoga & stretching exercises in addition to my job.
