Hello!

Since so many BP's (and those with other disorders) are artistically gifted, I was hoping there are other serious writer's who may want to chat. I am looking for those who have already written a novel or two and would like to talk about agents, quiries, genre's etc.

Though I have mentored and taught other writer's, that is not what I'm looking for now. Nor am I seeking a crit partner. Just someone who has heard the calling, has the gift and is perhaps looking for a friend who is in the same place.

I've written five-two are on the shelf forever. The other three are sci-fi fantasy romance, a paraormal romance with time travel, and a portal (or alternate world) fantasy romance. These three need some work, but mostly a final edit on two of them. My strengths are characterization, world building, story arc, strong and lyrical dialogue and research.

I spent a year in the study of quiries and they are fairly easy for me now.
As for the dreaded synopsis, I still struggle a bit but know my way around the seven major plot points. Though I mainly write by the seat of my pants, I also outline (roughly) take copious notes, make sketches and story board. And write detailed character profiles, of course.

I've just begun my sixth and it is different than anything I've ever written. I am doing a literary memoir told in a series of interlocking stories that do not follow a linear time pattern.

If you understand the terminology, then you are probably the kind of writer who would enjoy a friendship with someone who is on your own level. Genre is not important to me, so whatever you write, send me a PM so we can talk.

Cheers! Tea&Sympathy

If there are other writer's out there who are looking for a tutor, a mentor, an editor or a crit partner-please do not ask. At this point in my career I cannot take time away from my own work but I wish you the best of luck.
Thanks for this!

Really? No one?

I am a nice person, ask anyone. And I won't judge you or your writing. Just looking for a friend, some kinship-someone who shares my dream.

Fast forward in time to a future date then I could reply positively but for now I fit in that state of not being there (or close yet) ... it's an exciting world you live in, I hope you do find others at a similar stage of their journey to travel with

I would love to have you as my writing friend. Have you begun your first novel yet?

I write poetry and am looking to self publish on Amazon. I don't expect to make much money but am in the process of selecting about 25 or so poems for a mini ebook. I'd love to write a novel but always struggle with having an idea I think is 'good enough'

Hi Tea & Sympathy. It happens to turn out that one of my characters in my one-and-only novel frequents an establishment in NYC called Tea & Sympathy. I have a very sad familial situation going on at the moment but I thought I'd reach out and say I'd love to be a creative bipolar pal of yours.

P.S. My avatar is the cover I've chosen for my yet to be published novel.

Hello Verity!

I was beginnig to give up. A few words of advice, if I may. Self publishig and publishing on the internet are two very different things. A collection of poetry is a beautiful thing, but keep in mind that a legitamate agent will not even look at anything you publish on the internet. And you do not want to self publish (it's called vanity press) anything-the cost is staggering, though they will not be honest with you about that initially, and a short collection of poetry would never make back the moey you would have to put into it.

As for your novel-hurrah that you are so ambitious. Don't waste another second worrying about writing a novel that is 'good enough'. Your task, rather, is to write something original enough. You are clearly at the starting gate, but that's okay. Now you need to learn your craft and your tools and the biz. There is a novel inside of you that wants to come out so don't diminish whatever ideas you have at this point.

There are writer's sites and some books I would like to reccomend-so please PM me. And thanks for posting!

T&S

Hello providence!

There you are! I knew you were here somewhere. I am sorry for your sad situation right now, but I hope we can still talk until you get ready to write again.

And the coincidence of the names-wow!

You may not be around right now, but I'll PM you. Can't wait! I'm more excited than the ugliest girl in school who got invited to the prom!

I'm not on here much lately (I'm dealing with a bunch of things, including getting my mother's estate settled--she passed in January--but fortunately, things are finally moving along!), and I haven't written anything lately, but it is my goal to pursue a writing career. I plan to write horror novels, but if I can learn how to properly research history for writing, I'd really like to also write some historical and time-travel romance novels. Perhaps some paranormal ones, too, and erotic romance. I've certainly read enough historical and time-travel romance novels, but writing one is a whole other ballgame! I've read a lot of horror, too, not to mention all the movies I've seen (and now, TV shows, too, like The Walking Dead, Rosemary's Baby and American Horror Story), and feel really comfortable in my ability to write such a story.

Perhaps what is needed is a forum for professionals where queries like this might get more replies? I've met a few people here that are professionals of one sort or another, mostly the arts or sciences. Under the professional forum could be sub headings, writers, theoretical sciences, physical scientists, fine arts......

I have a 32 page memoir. Perhaps you could edit it and declare whether it is fit for publishing. Please private message me.

I have a 32 page manuscript. I'm sort of afraid of copyright issues but if you're already a distinguished author you might be a good one to look at it and make suggestions.

I'm only 20, I can't claim to be anything special...I just like to write.

I also tend to gravitate towards the fantasy genre. I like the feeling of escaping into another world. I spend to much time daydreaming because of that though...

I wanted to reply to this thread sooner, but I don't know if I'd be considered a serious enough writer. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind someone else to talk to.

Marshalette, why are you afraid of copyright issues? Have you used material from another author? Aside from that, what you write is already copyrighted, once you've got a few lines enough to express an idea. (Ideas are not copyrightable, but I mean once you've got a few lines for a poem, or the start of a story, or your memoir is in a fixed format--it doesn't have to be complete--it is copyrighted.) If someone stole a significant portion of your work and claimed it to be theirs (or even if they didn't, but used a large amount without permission), you'd have the right to sue; however, you can get more damages if you register your copyright (at copyright.gov).

Hi Maven!

Thank you for posting. I haven't been here for a couple of days. I think it's wonderful that you have so many idea's. It sounds as if you have a great imagination. I would suggest you find a writer's site you are comfortable with (and one that doesn't ask for payment) and I assure you will learn a great deal, especially if you jump in start and do critiques for others. You have many skills to hone besides your imagination, but as with anything, you must give yourself time. You also need to learn about the busiess end of it. One book I would suggest for you is Writer's Digest-it has a wealth of information for both new and practiced writer's.

I wish you all the best with your pursuit of a worthwhile career.
Thanks for this!

Sidestepper-

I think that is an excellent idea! I suspect there are many more writer's out there that would enjoy being in touch with each other. I will bring the idea up with a mod and see how it flys.

Thank you

I fell in love with short stories/novellas a couple years ago, and currently write for niche audiences online. I have no idea how I'd publish the kind of esoteric things I like or if it would even be worthwhile.

How many people want to read about the Jungian concept of enantiodromia and inner psychic worlds? Probably not many.

I wish you luck, though.

I don't have the ability to write novels, but I have written poetry, newspaper articles, and short stories. I haven't gotten my poetry or short stories copyrighted yet. I am very hopeful to someday have my work printed and (hopefully) enjoyed by others. That would be awesome!

Tea, actually, I get Writer's Market every year, and once I get my butt down to writing, I'll re-subscribe to their online site. I will get that for free (well, not really; I have to buy the online version of the book, so that extra cost covers online and the book itself). I have an idea I want to work on, but I need my boyfriend to clean my printer cover for me (it's possible for me to do it, but better if he does, because of issues with my OCD) and then I have to clean the print heads, because I want to print out some research on the topic of my story.

Also, I do get Writer's Digest magazine, and I've bought a number of books they've published. One of my favorites is...well, I can't publish the full name of it here, but you know what I mean: http://www.amazon.com/The-Kick-***-W...dp/1599637715/
