Just got back from day #2 of the volunteer job. I'm ruddy knackered, but it was good. Got invited to a garden party-type thing; not sure if I'm gonna be able to go, but I'm keeping it in mind. (it's in my town, at the house of the woman who basically started the whole volunteer thing, with some people from the group) Did plenty of walking, even though I ended up getting a lift part of the way there and back. xD I ended up going the wrong way, on the way there, but got a nice walk out of it. Up and down hills, including one particularly very steep hill. Feels good on the legs.
The work I did was tree-related, again, but this time there was a lot more to it, as I had to clear the grass and weeds around the trees, help with the replacing of the sleeves. It's also a hot day, again - wore my hat most of the time, so no sunburn! So yeh, it got knackering towards the end, with all the sheering of the tall, rough grass and weeds. The forest place I went to was nice. I got chatting to more of the people in the group. Most of them seem really nice and friendly; very welcoming and accepting of my being there. I don't seem to get any foul looks or anything... mainly, I think they're just pleased to have a younger person coming along to help, for a change! Gotta work the abs, today. ¬_¬ Not looking forward to that, but it's on the programme, so it's gonna just have to get done. No excuses! RAWRGH! Oh, and the local paper was there, and did take pictures, and yes I was in it... so, looks like I may well end up in our paper. ¬_¬ That'll be a shock to those who used to know me, seeing my ugly mug in the paper as part of a volunteer group. ![]()

Sounds like you are doing great work. I'm glad you are enjoying it and getting to know people. I hope the picture makes it to the paper so everyone will know you are part of a good cause. Congratulations.

Good for you Zwang ( aka Akuma). Getting out in the open air and doing hard physical work is good for the body and the soul so keep at it. It's all good. When i was a lot younger i voluntered with the BTCV ( British Trust for conservation Volunteers) and met some nice people and had some good times. So you could try them. If you were closer to London we could meet up there as i think we could be good friends. We also have a love of |German and Germany in common. Best wishes.

Unfortunately, the paper didn't use any of the pictures they took with all of us, and just used one with only 3 of us, myself not included. ¬_¬ I bet I'm not the only one who's annoyed and disappointed by that. I didn't care at first, but my dad seemed quite excited at the idea of me being in the paper.
