Y'all are probably gonna laugh at me. I know my co-workers think my idea of a vacation is weird.

I'm in the midst of two weeks off from work. I'm having a stay-cation. I love my farm and my critters. I work long hours and am away from home a lot as a result. To me staying home, playing with the critters and catching up on chores is a nice break from work. I spent an entire day last week doing MAJOR landscape work at my mother's house.

I fumigated my house last week. The place had become overrun with creepy crawlers. I suspect all the rain we've had chased them inside. Since then I've been doing major house cleaning, like taking everything out of the kitchen cupboards, scrubbing them down and putting the stuff back. If time allows I plant to do similar things in other rooms of the house.

I'm also reading a bunch, as in hours a day. And I'm having my own TV show marathons watching DVDs of some of my favorite shows.

Best of all I'm able to stay up later than usual and sleep in in the mornings.
Hugs from:

Sounds like a good idea. After all a vacation is about getting away from the ho-hum routine.

Liz, sounds like a wonderful vacation to me. Enjoy every minute and I know your critters are loving it too.

I've had my fair share of stay cations, it's about changing your pace, doing what you want when you want. Sounds both productive and relaxing, at the same time.

That sounds like bliss! All I want to do at the weekends is relax but it never lasts long enough and work soon rolls back around - I'd love a fortnight off to totally have some "me" time. Also, I love the idea of being able to clean and organise everything!

Ooh, totally agree with you - that sounds absolutely wonderful to me too! I love stay-cations, the chance to catch up on stuff and the ability to just relax and find a schedule that works for me. Enjoy your time off!

When I came here the first time & the Real Estate person drove me to see this place...my first comment was....I always had to go on vacation to stay in a place like this....now I can own it & live here all the time (with the work involved in keeping it up...lol).

Glad I don't work...but then I'm still not doing the work like you are that needs to be done here.....oh I know those creepy crawlers that have come inside...especially those lite wispy spiders that when you spray them they flee like the wind & if I don't make them flee & then manage to get on me....they bite me & give me a good itch.....so a clean home is important....finding all those spiders that I hadn't found & hatching baby spiders....YICK....cleaning is a must way back into the back corners.

Glad you are enjoying your vacation....& reading & DVD'ing & doing the things you like to do like going to bed whenever & getting up whenever.

Enjoy your stay-cation.....there is "NO PLACE LIKE HOME"
