Long time bicycle enthusiast, I like all kinds dating back to my time and many hours spent on BMX bikes. I currently have quite a few really cool antique balloon tire bikes, I've got a 1937 Arnold Schwinn Roadster, 1938 Colson, 1953 Rollfast tank bike, 1955 Western Flyer and quite a few others. Even though i'm only 37 I really like the bikes of the depression and WW2 era, it was just a special time, may be due in part to my grandfather on my mothers side who was in WW2 that told me so many interesting stories.

I do but only on a casual basis. That looks like an interesting hobby.
I've had one bike that fit like a glove and was a joy to ride. It was stolen from me. It was a very expensive bike, a semi-gift from a friend, so I don't think I could afford to replace it even if I could find another like it which I can't. I knew the brand and the model number but couldn't find any info nor pics of any bike quite like it.
Are you good at identifying bikes?

Hi George, I would say I have a pretty good eye for bicycle makes and models, do you have a picture of it?

I once had a real expensive bike, had it locked up to a bike rack, and it still got stolen, i used to love riding my bike to school and work but that was 20 years ago, i'm not in the best of shape anymore to even ride a bike so i'm glad i got to have the chance to use it when i was younger.

Nice bikes! I have 2 and both are currently disassembled and in need of repair. My favorite bike is a Huffy with a coaster brake! I just love it. It is simple and it brings me back to my childhood. I am currently painting it black as the original colors were hideous. My other bike is a Schwinn with lots of speeds and a shock absorbing suspension up front. Turns out, I don't like this bike as much as I thought I would. It's heavy and complex.

Thanks unguy, avlady, unfortunately a lot of bikes do get stolen, I generally only take mine out for trips on the local bike path or for a launch around the neighborhood with my son, we live in a somewhat small town with a military base fairly close by, bike theft hasn't been to big an issue around these parts. The cruiser type bikes I mostly ride are also single speed bikes of cheaper or older makes so they are much less desirable to would be thieves fortunately. I guess those high dollar road or mountain bikes look tasty to the criminals, I keep mine simple and fun.

Okay thanks, I know the make and model... I just can't find out anything about it and it doesn't look like any current models. And I don't think I could afford to buy one if I could find one like it.
It had Elite 700al stickers but it doesn't look like recent 700al's. It had a large frame... geometry looks like a road bike. 700c wheels/tires. Flat bars.

I have gotten back into bike riding lately and it has been a real pleasure. I have a ten speed racing bike that due to roads here is so hard to ride and hard on it as well. I just got a trail bike and am loving it; the cushioning on it is so much better with these tires, much more forgiving of these roads and to go off road now is really interesting. I just wish I could get the dogs used to it so they don't feel they have to stay 15 feet away; to them, it is a monster.

That's a nice looking French Motobecane hybrid bike, similar to the cyclocross bikes that are becoming popular now, they are nice bikes and do fetch a pretty good premium. There are a lot of models available and it does tend to be difficult finding older models, even only a few years old.

Cycling - absolutely! 4 bikes no waiting. I have a vintage 1991 Cannondale S700 mountain bike, and 3 I bought in the last year - a 2013 Specialized Crosstrail ProDisc hybrid, a 2013 Surly Pugsley "fat bike" and a 2013 Prodeco Outlaw electric mountain bike.

I try to ride a minimum of 100 miles a week, 150 plus if possible. I like to take very long rides of 50 to 100 miles on Saturday mornings if time allows.

Next year I am going to buy a road bike. I will probably go with another Specialized, but would be willing to consider a Trek or Fuji.

Trying to get motivated to go for a ride. It's 32 degrees and that's up from 11 degrees when my boy went to school. Ideas to stay warm but still able to move?

Am wanting to get back into it. I adore it. I used to LIVE on my bike.

Trick is, getting husband to find a bike for me, rather than for all the other people he's outfitted and done work for...I need something more like a hybrid, now; no more racer-type ten speeds. Not til I'm in much better shape.

Wow, 100 to 150 miles at a trip!! Holy smokes, now that's commitment!! A real good ride for me is around 15 to 20, pretty cool because my bike computer said I burned around 860 calories on an 18 mile ride. Bikes are great, really lets me get away from it all.

Growing up, I always wanted one of those 10 speed bikes with chrome wheels.....& I definitely wanted a boys bike....not the sissy girls bike.....

So what did my parents buy for me....a girls Schwinn bike with white painted wheels (interesting how we see things as a kid).....I rode it but not that much.

However when I got my first job (when I finally got into college).....the first thing I bought with my pay checks was a Nishiki 10 speed "BOY'S bike".....it was difficult to find one small enough for me as was always short 5ft 1" with very short legs. I got the smallest bike possible & always needed to stop with a curb close by......but I rode that bike 20 miles a day to & from work.....& I had friends that loved to ride...so we would take off & meet somewhere in the San Fernando Valley in Calif & ride the whole day, exploring the valley.....it was definitely a wonderful freeing feeling. I think my mother still had the bike they bought for me when I cleared out the house after she died....but I really can't remember too much about that period of time......

I doubt that I would trust riding a bike on these farm roads here in KY....they are narrow & there is no place to go off the road except into a ditch.....so my riding days are over besides the fact that my old 10 speed bike is still back in Calif where most of my things ended up being left when I finally left my H.

Now I stick to 4 legged HORSE power to do my trail riding on.

I have been an avid cyclist at times in my life. I own a vintage Raleigh cruiser, it's fabulous. I would love to bicycle more...unfortunately, I live in an ugly ghetto neighborhood with a lot of traffic and badly-maintained streets, so I'm not as motivated to ride these days as I wish I was. My son (he's 25) lives in San Francisco and bicycles everywhere, including long treks every week-end.

I enjoy bike riding also, though I haven't been out as much as I used to be. I always had such trouble riding up hills...having asthma just makes things more complicated.

However, I very much enjoy going down the hills. The faster the better. I've considered the fact that I might be a bit of an adrenaline junkie, but I haven't been doing much of that lately...my brakes keep seizing up which is probably a very bad, dangerous thing!
