Hi everyone, tonight I discovered the jack inside my laptop is broken, the cord won't plug in at all , it's completely loose. Where would I go to get my computer repaired, is there a place I can ship my PC to and get it fixed then sent back? (I don't have a car)

When I needed laptop repairs I looked at repair shops in my area on Angie's List. It costs about $12 a year and is very helpful.

How old is your laptop? Is it under warranty? What brand?

It's 5 months old , under warranty but it doesn't cover this , it's a Toshiba

Have you contacted Toshiba already? Did they tell you it wasn't covered by warranty?

Call Toshiba by phone and tell them the laptop has a manufacturing defect. It would help speed things up if you have the model number and serial number available when you call.

I take it you don't have a computer shop in your town/city, but if you do, go there. xD I wouldn't ship your laptop anywhere, as the chances are, you won't get it back. If you do banking on your laptop, chances are, they can just get your information from it. Not very safe or practical. Ideally, you need to find someone local.

You could go by bus/taxi, if a car isn't doable. Or ask a friend or family member to take you.

Best of luck! Feel free to let us know how it goes. If you have a PC World (or as I call it, TV World) you could try them, but they do kinda charge a lot. x_x

Sorry it isn't covered by warranty... it should be covered under recall with all the complaints Toshiba has had on that problem. If you are a little adventurous you could repair it yourself. It really is an easy fix but I understand some people are reluctant to open up their computer.
Thanks for this!
