Just because others don't see it doesn't mean you shouldn't believe you feel a certain way. Don't belittle your thoughts just because someone else thinks that they're not a big deal. If it affects you and really has control over you, it PROBABLY is a big deal. That other person just doesn't TRULY understand what you're going through. They haven't lived inside you, they haven't BEEN you so they don't know for sure.
I had a problem with this because I even think my therapist doesn't think my emotions hurt me bad than she thinks they do. She doesn't know how deeply I hurt no matter how many times I have told her. And so her not thinking my thoughts aren't something that needs immediate attention makes me think that my feelings are irrelevant When really, they are! My thoughts are me and if I feel them being so powerful to me in my life, it probably is a big deal. This is what I wrote in my notes: My feelings are valid. People just don't see how I feel and the legit reasons behind that but that's OK. I know my feelings are legit so that's all that truly matters. I am hurting. This is not wrong. I am feeling the outcome of the circumstances of my life including my own choices. This is a part of me. My pain is a part of me that I will accept and embrace because it's who I am. I've got a sensitive soul and that's perfectly okay. I am OKAY with being ME! |
