just for fun....

General concept for anyone unfamiliar....first world problems are things that would be trivial/ non existent for someone in the developing world...an example might be putting on sunblock for the beach ruined my new mani/pedi...

Here is my take on them blended with mental illness....

I always buy a new iPad during a psychotic break and it's always two weeks before they release a new version...

Had to increase my smile size three times to take a selfie...

Posted too much so now I'm an "elder" at age 39....

Cool, but, ... can't think of anything. xD Isn't this triviliasing mental illness, though?

It might be but I see it like how comedians In wheel chairs can talk about disability in a humorous way as a way of connecting with others. I suppose it lessens the stigma for me if I can see the humor in myself, I did worry others might not see it the same way though...

I painted a banner for our annual family picnic, but my mom thought "Celebrating 100 years of undiagnosed mental illness" was inappropriate.

Ah! That's kinda what I do with my OCD, sometimes. I don't do it so much, these days - not sure why. I get where you're coming from, though.

I refuse to take meds for my ADHD because it makes no sense to me to take dangerous addictive drugs for a problem that only drives other people crazy.

Years ago I was in a mental hospital. One visitor walked in and started to sing the tune "Here we go gathering nuts in May" (A Child's nursery rhyme). I had to laugh. She was unaware that a very unwell person was wanting to punch her lights out.

I often refer to my friends as refugees from the breakfast cereal aisle. A bunch of fruits, flakes and nuts.

And of course the old chestnut "I don't suffer from mental illness. I enjoy every minute of it."

This reminds me of when my Dad, who has been negative to me my whole life and is forever reminding me I'm not good enough, and knows about my struggles with depression, calls me crazy. I say: "I might be, but I'm not the only one!"
