On Thanksgiving:

For appetizers:
Deviled Eggs
Celery with cream cheese mixed with chopped olives

Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, corn, brussel sprouts, rolls, Mac and cheese, stuffing.

Also, a few things that don't need to be cooked. Cranberry sauce from a can and a frozen pumpkin pie and pecan pie.

That sweet potato bread pudding looks/sound delicious!

I'm thinking of adding a permanent sweet potato annual dish. ^^^That looks amazing. The addition is in the spirit of how my maternal family operates.

Menu,
Turkey, stuffing, gravy, potatoes, corn, green beans, squash, cranberry sauce, pudding pie, apple pie and rolls.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for the posts, now I know why I wanted to start this, hope it continues. That celery cream cheese sounds awesome. Is that something you make and what do you serve it with? Thanks again!

I guess our menu as it stands will be:

Roasted Turkey
Cornbread dressing with chicken (mom made this every year)
Homemade cranberry orange relish
Green beans with red pepper and onion
Deviled eggs
Fluffy sweet potatoes
Yeast rolls
Sweet potato bread pudding with caramel pecan sauce
Granny smith apple pie
Gluten free cranberry bread

Whole menu is gluten free

These green beans are to die for!
What are you cooking? Holiday and other..

ForeverLonelyGirl, it's something my mom has always made. Use an 8 ounce pack of cream cheese, chop up about a 3rd of a cup of green olives, add a little juice, mix together. Cut the celery into 1to 2 inch long pieces and fill with the cream cheese filling and enjoy . It's just a little snack to eat throughout the day before dinner. It's really good

I actually don't think I'll be doing any cooking for the holidays. We usually carve the Christmas Lasagna though.

Brown Italian sausage with onions and set to the side
In a lasagna pan, pour out 1/3 of a jar of spaghetti sauce
Place 3 uncooked lasagna noodles on the sauce
layer with half of the sausage
add healthy amount of mozzarella cheese
add 1/3 of a tub of ricotta cheese (best with part skim ricotta ... cottage cheese tastes like garbage in a lasagna)
layer 3 more uncooked noodles
pour over 1/3 of the sauce
layer remaining sausage
add healthy amount of mozzarella
add 1/3 of the tub of ricotta (NO COTTAGE CHEESE ... GROSS!)
layer 3 more uncooked noodles
pour over remaining sauce
heap on the mozzarella again
add the remaining ricotta and give the dog the cottage cheese
sprinkle on parmesan cheese

Cover and bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
Uncover and bake for 35-min to 1 hour until cheese is browned

Gives a lasagna that isn't runny or watery with firm noodles that aren't sloppy.

I love baking during the holidays all sorts of things... Somewhat funny since I do not get into it the rest of the year; from gingerbread house to eggbread to pastries to veggie casseroles - anything.

I ended up making a Pumpkin bread pudding. A five star recipe from Bobby Flay. It took hours and hours over 2 days to make. It was super good, I would in the future make it over 3 days when I am not rushed. The bread part is made with your own homemade pumpkin bread, you make a spicy caramel apple sauce and the dish is topped with a vanilla bean creme anglais which is a custard. Quite a feat but worth the effort! I added raisins which made it even better and topped it with toasted spiced pecans which made it look much better than this photo!
