It was my birthday today and no-one remembered it. So, I had a very lonely birthday.
About a week prior to my birthday, my mother told me that she thinks I was born from the wrong tummy. We weren't even arguing at the time, so I know she didn't say it out of spite. I truly believe that she believes she should never have been my mother. I kinda hoped she'd still wish me a happy birthday at least, but it wasn't to be. My brother and sister didn't even remember my birthday either. I was planning to get drunk tonight, but changed my mind. I just spent the last two hours watching a movie about a mother who shot her own children. What a birthday huh. Oh well, it's just like any other day anyway. I'm curious. What do some of you normally do for your birthday. Anything special? |

I've known families that don't think birthdays are to be remembered or celebrated much. My ex felt hurt when his own mother would forget about it. My parent's always remember my birthday, but it doesn't matter really. Otherwise in my youth they neglected me and were abusive.
Just remember that you are worthwhile no matter what day of the year it is. I'm sorry you felt hurt. Happy Birthday! I hope you do something good for yourself today.

I don't like birthday_s, prefer surprises. Birthdays, ceremonies, New Years, BH_s -are compensations for everyday life. Like you could pay your debts that way and 'speciality of the day' is a bonus itself. I prefer 365 -1 days of balanced life, birth day can kiss my %&#
Oooooops, is this what I really want?

Happy birthday Iniquity!
I'm sorry that you didn't have a good birthday in real life. If it happens another time, remember that here there is always someone who would like to celebrate with you, though maybe not everyone knows when is your birthday. Hope that this thread will let you at least a good memory of your birthday. We love you Lovefromdover, what do you mean with enemies tab?

My daughters let me sleep in. My older daughter made yummy oatmeal with raisins for me, then baked my cake (and decorated with my younger daughter). I think that we went to the park for a little while, but it was rather cold in November... my bf took the 3 of us out for supper, followed by blowing out my candles on the cake...all 44 of them in one blow!
 It was a nice and relaxing day for me. Happy belated birthday to you!

Happy belated!
I really think the level of significance and excitement decreases when you get older? Anyone feel this way? When I was young, I used love it. Nowadays it's just like any other day... plus you are a year older...

Happy late birthday Iniquity, I know how bad suckish birthdays feel, my 21st birthday was just as bad, I stayed home all day crying because no one wanted to do anything with me, and almost everyone forgot to wish me happy birthday. As for what I do now, pretty much what you did, watch movies, pray that someone will actually care enough to acknowledge my birthday. What you could do, if possible, is get a gift for yourself, like a massage or some item you've been wanting, or even an awesome tasty treat for yourself.

Usually for my birthday I go out for dinner with family, the same day or if it's not possible some days later.And somsometimes I do something with the closest friends, but not always. |

Happy belated birthday!
Birthdays are weird things. I have two minds about mine. On the one hand part of me wants to be showered with love and affection and attention, but on the other hand I know I would probably be mortified and extremely uncomfortable if that actually happened I had a birthday last month and I spent that morning crying and wishing I had never been born, and just generally ruminating on all my perceived mistakes and failures. Then I went to a coffeeshop for a little while, then I went to confession and to Mass, then back to the coffeeshop. Not the best birthday ever, but not the worst either. The worst birthday I ever had was the one where my ex broke up with me. To make matters worse she broke up with me via a birthday card! It said, "I hope you have a great birthday and do something special for yourself. I don't want to be your girlfriend anymore."  I can laugh about it now. |
