Hey folks,

If you're like us and live in the US Northeast, we're preparing for what should be a pretty major blizzard. I just wanted to say that I hope you all keep safe and warm over the next 48 hours, and make it through with your electricity intact.

Check in here, share your photos and thoughts about what's going on in your neck of the woods!

Take care,
DocJohn

I'm wondering if I should pack a bag in case of evacuation. I hope I won't lose power. Thank you for the thread, DocJohn.

I live in Kansas. It's supposed to be in the 60's here. (Nearly record-breaking high temperatures.)

They labeled where I live "The JackPot" area. I am afraid to find out what that means.

They closed Boston for 2 days.

Were suppose to get 12-24 inches total. For some reason I hate winter this year . I stay indoors all the time last year i would be out walking in the storm . I got my extra blankets out , my camp stove, my cell phone all charged found my trusty flash light and I'm praying we dont lose our power seeing how they are predicting 30-50 mph winds with this one damn I hate the cold this year.

I agree! And it's already so cold in my apartment. I'm just dreading this. But I wish it were over already.

We're supposed to get 24-32 inches, so far it only looks like 4ish this morning and powdery, which is easy to shovel/blow, but it is still early. It will make getting to work easier; don't now about getting home but at least can get there. This is one of those times I wonder what I was thinking choosing a profession in a business that never closes. I just hope the commute won't be bad this morning.

I thought the storm was coming in for us on Monday and I got provisions on Saturday, so all at the house should be ok if they lose power. I just hate leaving them alone today. I hope they will be ok and the storm won't turn out to be as bad as they are predicting.

For all those dealing with the blizzard, stay safe, stay warm, and hang in there.

I'm originally from upstate New York but live in Kentucky now. We got a dusting, and I got to listen to someone in my pdoc's waiting room complain about "all this snow". Lol!

Well, it seems that for most people the "huge storm" turned out to be a pretty normal snowstorm. Here in Calif, back in December we were told there was going to be the worst rainstorm in so-and-so many years and hurricane-like winds and so on...turned out we had about 2 hours of moderate wind and a day and a half of normal rain...and that was the last rain we've seen. The climate is sure "off". I don't think meteorologists know what to make of the whole thing.

pachyderm, that's a wonderful photograph. Thanks for posting it.

37 inches later, still digging, will post pictures when unburied. Because of the drifts, I had 5 feet around the house and on the deck, up over the doors and windows, creepy. However, more importantly, we were all safe here too and cozy warm. I hope all faired well.

They did a really good job of clearing the roads, and declaring an emergency helped to keep everyone off of them to keep them that way. Visibility was terrible, white out conditions trying to get to work. However, the EMS and paramedics I talked to were really grateful for the roads too as they have been super busy the last couple of days. Not everyone has been so lucky in these conditions; the hospital census was really high just in the last 2 days, which was sad to see.

We are expected to get more tomorrow and Saturday. I hope I can get the rest of the paths cleared out before then. I am so over this now; during such times, I am wondering, really, why do I live here ?! A shoveling I will go.

I survived the Blizzard of 2015. Light and Fluffy made that easy.

I don't know why I live here. I wicked despise winter. I did notice the sun was shining bright today. Get ready for all those baby storms heading our way.
