I am definitely a night person. My schedule doesn't permit me to - but my ideal time to wake up is mid-afternoon and go to sleep shortly before sunrise. I do not like the brightness and hectic nature of morning and early day hours.
Thanks for this!

Same here. In fact, I plan on quitting my good paying 8-5 job with benefits and 7 weeks off per year for a lower paying job without benefits that is primarily afternoons and evenings. I'm feeling pretty burned out on the AM grind.

The last week I've been so little of a morning person that I have been sleeping through my alarm. This is NOT good. When I was a kid my dad would tell me to 'smile' in the morning. It pissed me off so much as I would roll out of bed with just enough time to get out of the house on time. I know exactly how much time it takes me to get out of the house and I don't get up a minute earlier.

Neither am I a morning person. When I was working, the hardest thing I had to do was get up to the alarm! Now, retired, I feel kind of guilty for sleeping in, but a lifetime of working, and NOT a morning person, I just enjoy it!

I'm not an EARLY morning person, but I'm more of a morning person than a nightowl or person. I'm "no nightowl."

What helps me is exposure to natural light ASAP at getting up, at least 20 minutes. It will wake up your brain fast. If that's not possible, artificial light that simulates daylight.

Some upbeat music helps, something that makes you want to MOVE! Favorite dance music, for example.

Of course, the old standby of coffee works for me too. Nice and strong!

I am by no means perky first thing in the morning, even though I'm not a nightowl at all. I prefer the morning and daytime, but it's always been hard for me to get up PERIOD, even when I was a teen!

Slept 10-12 hours then, and I just didn't want to get up!!! Loved bed & sleep--still do.

I also want to kill people who are perky in the morning. Must be on something other than caffeine.

When I was in school, I tried NOT to take an 8am class. And when I worked at this company whose HQ was on the East Coast, they changed our hours from 7am to 4pm! LOL, my co-workers knew not to talk to me before 9am even if I did have my coffee. I wasn't exactly crabby but I'd be out of it, LOL.

Daylight Savings Time does NOT help anyone who has trouble with early mornings get up! I wish they would stop this useless practice.

I'm stiff and achy every morning, so a few gentle exercises helps wake up my body as well as my brain. I'm then able to move better.

If you're using a traditional alarm with a beep or buzzer, you might want to try waking up to nature sounds, like birds. You can get sound machines or alarm clocks that do this.

That being said, I wish mornings did not "officially" start till 9am. Meaning no one is expected to be awake before then, LOL.

my husband is up at 6 am every morning and i try to get up with him out of guilt. i am a housewife so i can sleep in if i want but i just feel soo guilty, and if i go back to bed i wake up at 9 to 11. i try to get to bed by 6 pm and sleep till 6 am. i have sleep apnea too so find it hard to get up without 3 cups of coffee before being functional. my husband has to drive an hour away every morning and night so that is why he is up so early, he doesn't care if i sleep in but i just feel so guilty.

I am not a morning person, however I must get up at 5:00am
(Mostly I just drift back to sleep), if I am not up by then; I get up at 5:30am.
And leave the house around 6:23am.

They pose as humans even though they have no understanding of the human heart; they eat even though they've never experienced hunger; they study even though they have no interest in academics; they seek friendship even though they do not know how to love. If I were to encounter such monsters, I would likely be eaten by them... because in truth, I am that monster.

I don't mind the morning if it's around 8 or 9 am but this waking up at 4 am for no reason is for the birds.

This may sound "counterintuitive", but if you have trouble getting up, it's "easier" if you get up RIGHT AWAY when the alarm goes off, LOL. And turn on lights, or turn on a light before you get up. (If you have a lamp right by the bed, turn it on after the alarm goes off)

DO NOT press that "snooze" button, because one time I did that.....And I kept doing it....

Pretty soon, an hour went by and I was late, rushing around!! I hate rushing!

Also, don't lay there thinking "I'll get up in a minute", LOL. That minute can turn into 10 minutes, or worse, you could fall BACK asleep and then you are once again too late!!!

It's now dark when I get up, and it will be until the time change (which I also hate!!!! ) Even harder to get up when it's dark, cause it's like it's NIGHT time, not day! DEPRESSING!!!!!!!!!
