Heh. I think it would be interesting to check out an old asylum. They kinda creep me out. Not so much the people who used to stay in them, obviously, but the doctors did such weird experiments. Probably more deserving of being patients there than the patients themselves, in some cases...

Sounds cool. Very creepy looking place.

I'd be intersted I'd rather do it at night though.
I used to have a friend in Philadelphia. An urban explorer. There is a very large abandoned asylum/mental hospital there in the area. He and his group of explorers have taken some very interesting and haunting photos of this place.

I'd like to go to the Costume Ball, but I wouldn't want to win first place! Nope!

When I was married lo these many years ago, my h got me a kitten and named her Eloise after the book character, because she was always getting into mischief. Well, my side of the family didn't know from books, the only Eloise we knew was the local asylum. So I would end up explaining to my people, "the cat's full name is Wayne County General Mental Hospital, but we call her Eloise for short." Growing up, my parents were always threatening to send me there, I think. It seemed like it came up in the conversation a lot. Probably closed during the Reagan years.

The name came from the post office on the grounds which opened July 20, 1894 and was named Eloise after the postmaster of Detroit's daughter, Eloise.

I promised myself I would not ask, so I'm not going to ask.

I have a friend who has spent several overnights there. He has one pic of himself with some spooky green orbs surrounding him! (no kiddin')
The building was the second largest handcut stone bldg. in the world next to the Kremlin. I haven't been there, but I plan to go sometime.

I was just being funny, did not see how Detroit's postmaster's daughter's friend's dog (my cat is named Emily after my great grandmother) figured in to a podunk post office on the grounds of a lunatic asylum? I then figured Detroit must be in Wayne County, etc.

Wow, that's big, I've seen to the Kremlin. . . Of course, if there's only the two, the second largest could be not large at all.

The grounds are beautiful in that historical sort of way.

Think how would it be if they recorded numerous occassion when patients were screaming having their hallucinations, and nowadays, when the building is abandoned; release those sounds to night-tour visitors???
